Hi every one, well i'm tried to make My omnia GPS to work, i tried many applications, all applications i used says GPS is connected but there is no signal or Data GPS capture my all, here is what i did exactly:

1- Upgraded my omnia rom to windows mobile 6.5, the rom is SHKv21_LITE it is very fast and stable.

2- From setting -> system -> External GPS i selected program port COM3 and hardware one to COM9

3- Then open GPS program like IGO 8

4- From Setting-> GPS and search for GPS it says "GPS Receiver is Connected" and detected that on Port 3

5- now opened GPS Data from map to check the signal ad it seems no signal at all, and GPS continue search for signal.

6- I also tried GPS Splitter tools and repeated all the steps from 4.

i tried also other tools lik Route 66 and no luck, l'm from egypt and sure that GPS works here cause it works on Nokia N97 with good signal, Please guide me how to make it work i begin to believe that OMNIA GPS is not working at all.

-- Edit --

For hint i use NOData software that comes with WM 6.5, and disabled all those channels cause dont want my mobile to connct to internet automatically:

Data Package - Disabled

Etisalat MMS - Disabled

Weyak - Disabled

As soon as it says gps connected in igo8 you gotta wait for it to connect for ages, i had that problem too it took like 15minz to connect for me. i stopped using that now and use igo amigo, works like a charm for me. Try using Enhanced GPS that also works. It makes it connect much quicker.

A friend and I both upgraded to a 6.5 ROM recently and his connected to GPS fine. It took mine about 2 hours to finally connect and since then it has been fine. In Garmin it would show searching for satellites and if I went to the GPS info screen it would show no satellites, usually you will see at least 1 or 2. It appears that the GPS chip can get into a funny mode and you just have to wait it out searching for satellites until it comes right.

gonna subscribe to this thread so i can try to help you guys out

The GPS MOSTLY WILL NOT GET A LOCK WHEN CONNECTED VIA USB, though i have locked before

first thing i suggest is going into settings>phone>services>gps

and make sure location on is checked

if it is and u cant get a lock check 911 only and soft reset the the phone then go back and re check location on and accept the agreement when the phone restarts.

From here you should be able to open up garmins coordinates screen of gpstest and see it actively searching for sattellites, meaning the gps is active.Close your gps app for now and go to 1 of the 2 steps below

::If using gpsgate like me,at this point open gpsgate's settings, and click the wizard at the bottom of the input tab and uncheck everything except use wired or built in gps, hit next

gpsgate will search for your gps com port, when it finds it click yes to use that port, next, leave share with NMEA apps checked, next,ok,finish

from now on you should have instant locks 99% of the time. it doesnt matter which gps app you use. For the times when my lock isnt instant i just soft reset the phone using psshutxp since it doesnt take long for these custom roms to reboot. Then just open your gps app and walaah!

::if using cgps just press the today plug and in a sec u will have a lock that auto refreshes every 5 minutes.

different people have different experiences using this app, however i can confirm that it will get u a gps lock
