Guest cerberez Posted October 2, 2009 Report Posted October 2, 2009 It kind of bugs me every time I have to choose where to store/install something: my storage or storage card. Both have many GB of space on them. Does one have faster read/write than the other? Also, do programs run faster if you install them under My Device? Is there any reason to store/install anything in My Device? Thanks so much!
Guest necosino Posted October 2, 2009 Report Posted October 2, 2009 I install apps and games to My Storage, as well as store pics, ringtones, documents, etc. Use SD Card for backups, movies, and music. I usually have 80+MB free of Device Memory, and that's the way I like it, lol. :)
Guest Shemmy Posted October 2, 2009 Report Posted October 2, 2009 I only use my microSD card for storing CAB files, my XDA_UC folder, etc. Most applications I install to "My Storage," unless it's a UI (M2D, MS3.5) Titanium plugin (and requirements), or other system file (e.g. Finkerkb).
Guest DeeinSouthAfrica Posted October 2, 2009 Report Posted October 2, 2009 My Storage gets the music because Windows Media Player likes to sync to there. My SD Card gets the more serious items as well as my backup.
Guest arirang Posted October 2, 2009 Report Posted October 2, 2009 these cooked ROMs are so lean, i load all apps to Device. instruction-sets fetch faster, and integration [especially widgets] seems tighter and more stable. i direct all caching and temp files to be written onto My Storage. like most, i store my music, pics, CABs, XDA folder, and back-ups on Storage Card. therefore, in a pinch and i have to hard-reset, XDA loads everything without much attendance, AND i dont have to format My Storage either.
Guest Darthlord Posted October 3, 2009 Report Posted October 3, 2009 I personally put just Music(I'm addicted to music ;x) in SD card, Programs and Videos/Movies in My Storage(don't think that there is a difference of read speed between my storage and my device) and just put in My Device the things that can't be installed in other places, like Themes/UIs/Plugins
