At the beginning of the week, Schtruck (fpsece developper) told me he had just ordered a Dicota beat mini gamepad:

dicota_beat.jpg

I ordered the same!

Once I had it, I realized it was not working :)

Schtruck just told me: " search for hidgamep.dll "......

And the answer was on XDA:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=375407

And it works !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I simply copy here the method given on XDA (for the HTC Athena....!)

Andres Ortega First!!! IVE MADE USB GAMEPADS WORK ON OUR PHONE!!!!! now you can play your nintendo, super nintendo, genesis and playstation emulators on your T.V. and have a matching remote to boot.

You will need the following:

Registry Editor

Hidgamep.dll file (included)

4 in1 cable (and usb gamepad ) any with 1 joypad will work.

1. you will need to unzip the hidgamep.dll file into your windows directory on your phone.

2. open your registry editor, and find the directory [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\HID\LoadClients\Default \Default

3. add the value "1_5" . ( dont put the "")

4. open the value 1_5 and add the value "gamepad" ( dont put the "")

5. now add the key "hidgamep.dll" ( dont put the "") (this step makes windows use the driver)

6. save your work remove the usb device and reboot your phone.

7. now if you did this right, when you plug in your usb game pad it should give you a message. now all you have to do is set the buttons on your emulator and your off to gaming like a pro!!!!

The file "hidgamepad.dll" can be downloaded on the original XDA page.

If it still does'nt work, look for posts on page 3 and 4 at XDA, there's a zip file including a ready-to-use .reg file, or a second method where you create a 3rd "default" key instead of the "5_1" key

Since I've tried all these 3 methods and made at least 5 reboots before it worked, I don't know yet what works exactly, but the fact is that it works!

I made the registry editions using SKtools.

I bet maaaany USB gamepad can work with the TG01 :D

EDIT: after a few tests, it seems that "1_5" must be replaced by "Default" (yes yes, 3 defauts keys!) so that it works

Now we only need fpsece to be ready so we can use the gamepad for something... :)

I have the Bluetooth gamepad which I bought especially for fpesece so I hope the new version that actually works in landscape mode will be ready soon so I can actually use the gamepad hehe.

This registry fix can actually work for every emulator.

I can even controll my Toshiba UI (yes, yes, I use it loool) and navigate through the WinMo menus

And once this fix made, every USB gamepad is supposed to work, even the cheapest ones, or some of the best ones XD

Any ideas on getting this to work with a 360 pad? Have tried many times with no luck, pad just powers up and TG01 asks for a driver. Is it the fact that the 360 pad is to over complicated, thumbsticks and stuff?

Can a Xbox 360 run on a PC ? If not, specific drivers only for this pad are required, and I suppose they don't exist...

A video I've made to show how everything works well

A 360 pad works on vista, just plug and play. However a driver is required for xp. Just for clarity I'm talking about the wired pad.

Amazing Video! Thank you

Two questions an one affirmation:

1) Where did you buy the game pad?

2) Where did you find games like this one?

And the affirmation: TG01 users, We really NEED a way to use USB host AND charge our device at the same TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ASAP!!!!!!

Cordially

1) I bought this gamepad on Amazon, but I've seen this foldable gamepad on many other places

2) This game is ISS pro evolution from the PS1, played thanks to FpseCE 0.10 . OK, 0.10 is not yet released, Schtruck now only waits for the skins to release it, development is over, but FpseCE 0.9.6 can almost achieve similar performance on the TG01 with precise settings

If the Xbox gamepad works on vista, it may work on the TG01 like my small gamepad. In fact, the driver I use is a generic driver, so almost every gamepad is supposed to work

Is there any chance you would export the reg file and post it for me, i have tried many times but don't seem to be able to get it working. I have scoured google but no luck.

There's a link to the XDA-dev. post where I found this driver in my first post in this topic :)

I want to ask the man who made this .dll before uploading it somewhere, but ou can find it on the page I've mentioned in my 1st post, and you'll find there all the explanations.

As I said, it seems that creating a 3rd "default" key instead of the "5_1" key is necessary on the TG01.

To do this you would have to make your own cable that would split into two - one would be for connecting charger and second one would be for connecting USB device. It is doable but would require some work.

Dear Wishmaster89, I (and a lot of TG01 owners) would pay to someone who makes the miracle. If you think that you can do it, that could be an interesting bussines for you :) . Come on!

Thanks for an offer. Probably after few prototypes I would be able to do something like that but I would need Toshiba TG01 for it. I would need to disassemble the charger and the USB host cable. It is doable but unfortunately I can't afford one. If you would donate me enough money so I could afford one I could develop something like that :D

I think i could do this but don't want to hack up my stock host lead, any ideas where i can get one to play with?

I think there may be problems doing this though as the tg01 requires valid data or a short on the data pins to charge, can only hope a pads data is enough.

I have tried many times, guess i'm out of luck on the 360 pad. Time to stop being tight and just buy a new pad i think. Thank you for your reply though.

Well I don't fully understand what you mean but theoretically it is possible cause different pins are used for charging and different pins are used for USB so I would need to make a connector that would have both combinations of pins active on the connector so that the system can recognize both functions. I could even do it without the device itself(I would need to buy both charger and usb host cable) but it would take much longer cause I would need to find someone to test preferably in Poland.

You should try checking ebay they should have usb host cables available.
