Guest tomza81 Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 (edited) Hey guys i'm new to this forum, was directed here by a friend. Hope you can shed some light to a problem i have with my Omnia phone. I installed the programs from the CD i got with my phone, i installed the Samsung Modem driver for XP. When connecting my phone via the USB cable to my PC i get an icon on the phone showing the connection was established and its actually recharging the battery via the USB, but for some reason on the ActiveSync it still says No partnerships and Not connected. I also get a msg that says: ActiveSync cannot connected to the Windows Mobile powered device. To troubleshoot the problem, click OK. When i scan for possible problems everything seems fine. I have no firewall turned on, i did check the Enable advanced network functionality in the Settings/Connections Menu. And i did a master reset twice, reinstalling all the components both time aswell, restarting my PC and the phone aswell. So i'm kinda out of ideas on what to do :) and am hoping i might get some usefull ideas from you guys. Thank you in advance Cheers Tom Edited October 5, 2009 by tomza81
Guest awarner (MVP) Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 Welcome to the site :) Normally connection issues are caused by the firewall on your pc. Depending on what firewall application you are using the software company will normally have a guide on their site on how to enable the phone to be be seen and connected.
Guest doi620 Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 (edited) Try uninstalling ActiveSync by the 'removing programs' options in the Control Panel. Then manually remove the ActiveSync folder on your C-drive in Explorer (which is still there under /programms Reinstall ActiveSync and connect your phone. This worked for me when I had those problems. If it still doesn't work, try changing the USB-to-PC connectionsettings on your phone (by clicking on or off the advanced network settings). I am having the same problem. In fact nothing happens when I connect the phone to ANY usb port - not even an unknown device error. When I search the .inf files in \Drivers in ActiveSync, there is no entry there for an Omnia or Omnia II. It is version 4.5 (latest, I believe). However, the charging function works, as I get a "fully charged" notification....??? Edited December 25, 2009 by crocodile_dondii

I had installed another memory card in the slot, and had configured the sync to the memory card instead of ActiveSync. Lamer... Settings\General settings\USB conection >>ActiveSync, not mass storage. Connected to New PC Studio right away, and ActiveSync also synced automatically because it was so configured on the puter. Truly lame...but I wonder why I have spent literally HOURS on the phone and email with Samsung and Bell and nobody had twigged on that before.
