Guest skenmy Posted October 6, 2009 Report Posted October 6, 2009 I have recieved all the APN details from vodafone for MMS. I have tried putting these in my current APN (Contract Internet), in their own APN, and in an APN with the WAP settings. No matter where I put them, I cannot send MMS Messages, and I receive the "You have received an MMS Message" messages. Anyone have any experience on how to get them working on the Hero? Running MoDaCo Custom ROM v2.3.

Running MoDaCo Custom ROM v2.3. I had exactly the same problem on my samsung omnia.. It's nothing to do with the phone, but with the operator (i'm also with vodafone). My old phone worked fine, i upgraded and all of a sudden it wouldn't work.. Phone Vodafone and get them to re-enable MMS (for some reason they sometimes disable it :) ).. Worked for me :D
Guest shokka9 Posted October 6, 2009 Report Posted October 6, 2009 no way, Nicks in Android threads.... LOL!!
Guest tone-fu Posted October 6, 2009 Report Posted October 6, 2009 (edited) Vodafone don't offer the correct settings because they "don't support the phone" I ferretted around for ages and finally cobbled these together, which work perfectly for MMS, Browsing and all the other bits and pieces. Use these settings if you're on contract: Name: Vodafone APN: wap.vodafone.co.uk Proxy: Not set Port: Not set Username: wap Password: wap Server: Not set MMSC: http://mms.vodafone.co.uk/servlets/mms MMS Proxy: 212.183.137.012 MMS Port: 8799 MMS Protocol: Wap 2.0 MMC: 234 MNC: 15 APN Type: Not set Edited October 6, 2009 by tone-fu

Guest chucky.egg Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 Vodafone don't offer the correct settings ... Use these settings if you're on contract: Great, thanks fella! I kept meaning to look into it, you saved me the bother. However, I found that I couldn't select the new APN unless: 1. I set the "APN Type" value to default 2. I selected it 3. I went back and deleted the Type Works fine for me, although I find delivery of MMS very very slow (probably a network issue, and not a concern for me personally)
Guest tone-fu Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 Glad you got it squared away. It took me ages to get them sorted when I first got my phone, I wouldn't wish that on anybody else. The APN type setting may vary according to ROM..or maybe I got it wrong. :)
Guest skenmy Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 Have had MMS re-enabled, but now I can't seem to download them! I have the settings in my Contract Internet APN. Should I create a WAP APN? How will the phone know which one to use?
Guest tone-fu Posted October 9, 2009 Report Posted October 9, 2009 I've never bothered with separate APN's, just the one I posted there. I can surf and send and receive MMS with no problems.
