Guest gorf1000 Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 Well, at least from the initial list it looks like the Omnia (i9x0) will not be making the cut to get the WM 6.5 upgrade. Of course MS says the list is dynamic and will be updated frequently but I would think we'd probably already be on there since the Omnia2 is.... http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-...65-upgrade.mspx
Guest necosino Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 This had already been confirmed, but we have plenty of beta ROMs with newer versions of 6.5 anyway :)
Guest NeoandGeo Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 This had already been confirmed, but we have plenty of beta ROMs with newer versions of 6.5 anyway :) Providing 6.5 to the Omnia holds up the natural progression of people wanting new phones. Bad for business. :D
Guest cerberez Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 Is there any difference between the official WM 6.5 and the 6.5 our brilliant ROM chefs are working with?
Guest ferrari85 Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 Is there any difference between the official WM 6.5 and the 6.5 our brilliant ROM chefs are working with? Currently the official wm 6.5 is the one with the older GUI (start button on top etc). The 6.5 that most chef here are working with is the newer 6.5.1 that features newer GUI elements.
Guest rigor.m Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 In my opinion is bad for business to discontinue support so soon for a product that was a the flagship of Samsung Mobile a year ago. Smart management would be to get WM 6.5 for Omnia, just to show you stand by your product. For example I own a Dell laptop and will definitely buy Dell because driver support is excellent even after 2 years. If Omnia does not get a WM 6.5 upgrade I will think twice before buying Samsung Mobile again...
Guest Dr_M Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 In unofficial WM6.5 roms finger mouse does not work, that is the reason why i still use WM6.1.
Guest Shemmy Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 In unofficial WM6.5 roms finger mouse does not work, that is the reason why i still use WM6.1. Finger mouse works for me, and I'm using a 6.5.1 ROM.
Guest necosino Posted October 7, 2009 Report Posted October 7, 2009 Finger mouse works for me, and I'm using a 6.5.1 ROM. +1...?

So the same situation with ASUS, HTC and others (HTC Touch Pro does not receive upgrade to 6.5 even though it was used as Win 6.5 development environment)... Dude, wake up - there are only few phones which will receive official upgrade and all of them were introduced in 2009...

Every cell phone manufacturer is taking the same stance as of right now. :)
