WiFi not being scanned anymore [SOLVED]

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

I finally got the 2.5.1 to replace the 2.5. That's fast, faster than 2.2 and 2.3 for sure.

No hiccup in the GUI, menus and applications start quickly.

I've now few remaining issues.

1. WiFi scanning doesn't work. Both the one on the Wireless settings and the "WiFi Buddy"

application.

But if I enter the WiFi netwrok details by hand I can get connected.

I presume there's a backend program or library that's failing.

2. Superuser Permissions tool doesn't work.

I was trying to spot the issue no.1 out and got this other problem.

I run "su" from the command line and the tool popped up simply displaying a black dialog with nothing more than the "Superuser Permissions" title.

Maybe this issue is related to the previous one. Maybe.

Is there any hint on how to fix or work them around?

TIA.

Neither of these problems happen for me...!

Paul,

do you know how can I fix/reinstall the Superuser Permissions tool (without su, of course)?

I'm pretty sure that this very problem can lead to the solution to the other one!

Do you know where's the wifi backend in the file system?

Paul,

Is it possible to add confirmation before delete e-mail in HTC e-mail wdget? On previous MCR 2.3 it works well, also please note that it swithed ON in option of e-mail.

Found solution to issue no.2 (I think it's a FAQ, Paul).

You need to enable the USB Debugging otherwise the SU permissions tool will hang.

Settings-->Applications-->Development then enable USB debugging.

Now maybe I'll spot the wifi issue out.

Paul,

do you know anything about the WiFi backend for Hero's Android?

The only thing I've found is that even if I have enabled the WiFi I don't see the wpa_supplicant process running.

Any hint here?

Seeing issues on wifi here since 2.5, was already on the latest radio so just updated the rom.

Now I can see the wpa_supplicant process running I (just rebooted the phone).

But I still cannot scan the WiFi network.

WiFi is working as I can manually connect to any network by entering the details.

But scanning is not working at all.

I've had problem 1 several times, but not on this version of ROM. My solution (from google) is deleting /data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf, and wifi scan works fine again. dunno why.

Even better!

I simply deleted from the Settings menu the remembered networks and is started working back again.

I think this is a bug as the stock ROM doesn't have this behaviour.

I also have found this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=563068 which seems to be the same problem.

Yep, I think that does the same thing :)
