Guest cerberez Posted October 10, 2009 Report Posted October 10, 2009 (edited) Hey everybody. I've been frustrated about my internal gps for a long time. I read about people getting 5-second locks with a-gps and stuff, but most days mine doesn't lock at all! I've tried so many things listed on this and other forums. . . . this is my last idea. If you've got reliable gps on a vzw i910, please tell me what ROM you're using and what you've done to get gps running! THANKS!! I love this forum, thank you all so much! I would be in heaven if I could get gps fixed. Edited October 10, 2009 by cerberez
Guest necosino Posted October 10, 2009 Report Posted October 10, 2009 The ROM won't make a difference. All of the ROMs we have are based off the CF03 radio, which doesn't change unless verizon/samsung releases a new official update. I honestly never have to wait more than 3 minutes for a lock using iGo Amigo or Google Maps. If you want a constant lock, try GPS Toggle (a today screen plugin) or there's some other new GPS toggle that is a titanium plugin. What this does is keeps your GPS chip on constantly, so that it will always be locked on to the GPS sat' locations. It really doesn't affect your battery life that much either, maybe lose 15 minutes or so.
Guest gr8games Posted October 12, 2009 Report Posted October 12, 2009 i get pretty quick locks but it does vary. sometimes its like 10-15 seconds sometimes a couple minutes, sometimes it won't lock at all. not sure why, but its kinda annoying. yesterday driving i couldn't get a lock , then again it took a few minutes, but sitting here i turned it on and it got a lock in under 30 seconds. just now: after it was running a few minutes it said gps signal lost, then gps disconnected, then it connected and was running fine about 5 seconds later. anyone know anything about this? it seems to happen quite a bit, but i am not really sure why. happens more in my truck, and ussually when my girlfriend is trying to play with my phone. kinda funny it drives her nuts. lol i run mrcapcoms rom and this is with igo8 and google maps.
Guest arirang Posted October 12, 2009 Report Posted October 12, 2009 (edited) requirements: Windows 6.5.x Titanium theme enabled get consistent quick locks [<30 secs] on GPS software [googlemaps, bing, GPS weather radar] after installing titanium panel CGPS. battery usage is a trickle--left ON overnight, and battery was a solid 100%--so i leave it ON. per design it polls every 5 minutes and keeps the chip warm and 'pumping'. your mileage may vary.
