hi friends...

today i was totally free, so i decided to try some new 6.5 (custom) rom...

and believe me i m not impressed at all by any of 6.5 improvement (infect, i think there is nothing which i can consider as improvement)

here is my experience...

today i tried 3 custom rom from build 21XXX to 23064

1st i tried "Taril/Romovic i900 6.5 ROM (build ver. 21XXX)" which is quite very similar like if samsung will launch official 6.5 rom it has all samsung's default application nothing removed and added, but i hate its battery icon which is wrongly placed on taskbar and its disturb next icon like htc task manager or lg x button (i dont believe microsoft couldn't rectify till now) it's Titanium today ui is totally ugly, there are many impressive ui like spb mobile shell 3.5, etc. etc. which is far better then it, there few new applications but we already have some better third party applications...

after that i reflashed my omnia again with latest build with m2d (i personally dont like it, tf3d is quite good)

you all know that it has new ui which has start menu, close button and ok button on down side (it is good or you can say something diffrent) but i think microsoft don't hv designing sense everthing is just kidd'ish,... micsosoft should learn somthing from htc (very poor ui) it is the latest build... people waiting for it, from last year but same calculater, calendar, contacts(now with pics), email, msg applications.... what is this!!!! spb mobile shell 3.5 is much better then it it has all its own then why 6.5

dear i m totally disappoint with microsoft

now back to official 6.1 DXIA5 with mobile shell 3.5

thanks all

Sounds like your issue is based entirely on preference rather than a legitimate problem. I won't argue against your opinion, but many many users here will vouch for the custom ROMs and their creators. Sure, we all know that the basic MS and Samsung stuff is really nothing to be excited about, but that is why our brilliant ROM chefs spend a lot of time to change that.

And most of us are grateful for it!

I agree somewhat with you, friend; however, for whatever MS has planned for WinMo, 6.5 certainly is a step in the right direction. It's touch friendly and that is the direction that phones are definitely going in. Sure, the graphics are boring and Titanium's look can be too busy at times - even with all the great things that our people have done with it. It seems that with each progressive build of 6.5, it's geared more toward Win 7 so let's hope that there's more to come.

Unfortunately, I don't foresee too much more official support for the Omnia coming down the chute - it's already old technology.

As far as I know WM 6.5 is a minor update and the big one that they are working on will be 7.x

I also believe that some of the cooked roms may be based on software developed for HTC phones which are slightly different to Omnia phones. I have tried a few and they have been horrible, but there are also some that I like. Everyone uses their phones differently so it's up to you to find a rom that suits your needs and help the devlopers improve that by submitting bug reports, ideas and tutorials to help other people use that rom.

As far as phones go the Omnia is already old, so you can forget about Samsung, your phone company or anyone else *official* doing you any software favours, it's now in the hands of the chefs to keep things up to date.

Also, I find the vertical slider in vanilla 6.5 annoying. I used to use Samsung Today on 6.1 which made running an application as simple as clicking the icon for it. I'd like to see something like that for 6.5, but I'm starting to actually like Flotouch. After working out how to use it it's not too bad.

My worst experience was when a poorly made custom rom overclocked the cpu and overheated the wireless emitter, which caused radiowaves which caused cancer to my friends and family. I'm now superhuman, but the people i want to save are already dead.

Cheer up, you've just won an internet which should hopefully distract you from your loss :)
