Guest nAiTs Ô_o Posted October 13, 2009 Report Posted October 13, 2009 Hi! I tried to find the topic for hero on device spesified, but i could not find it. I also tried android topic, but could not get access. Is there a way to root htc HERO w/ ROM 2.73x? I checked this thread out: http://android.modaco.com/content/htc-hero...ate-zip-format/ But i think this was a very long way to go (and complex), just so I can get root access for deleting built-in apps. Does anyone have any bright ideas? (As u prob. have figured out by now, i'm a tard when it comes to android, so I need guidance) All help is appriciated (and excuse my English) :)
Guest Limlin Posted October 15, 2009 Report Posted October 15, 2009 Try to have a look at xda forum and that's a professional forum on HTC phones. Maybe you can find some needed info there.
Guest Paul Posted October 15, 2009 Report Posted October 15, 2009 If you applied a 2.73 stock update, you can't root yet. P
Guest nAiTs Ô_o Posted October 16, 2009 Report Posted October 16, 2009 Okey, thanx for the replies! I'll try to stay updated for when its possible to root! I have experienced lag and freezes when I have installed several apps that I actually use, but the lag goes away when I uninstall them. It would be better to have root access so I can uninstall apps that I don't use instead..! Like stocks or the footprint app!

Like stocks or the footprint app! well actually you could one more thing. you could downgrade your phone to an earlier ROM and then root it. just a suggestion. if yo udo decide to downgrade then search for the keywords "goldcard" here at the modaco forums and over at xda-developers

One more thing that makes me not want to downgrade is that, then I will have to make a backup of my contacts, and when i restore them, all contact names have been turned around (like the last name first) so I have to edit every single one of my contacts. Thats a multi hour job..! I'll just wait until it comes a good solution for rooting the 2.73 ROM. (Weak by android and htc not having a solution for this!)

I have the same problem with the stock Rom and not being able to root. Like yourself I'm new to Android having iphones motor the past few years.I may have a crack at this gold card thing. I came across a good video on a site WWW.unlokr.com I think it was. Go check it out.
