Guest John Simmons Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 Have gone through this forum and couldn't find any similar question posted earlier. apologies if someone has already asked this. I normally have TG01 connected to the work PC for charging/synching throughout the day. Rather than use Orange network (which is not very good around my office) I was wondering if there was any way to access internet on the phone using the office machine? I had an MDA Compact III before this phone and used to do this, but can't seem to make it work with this phone. Any advice gratefully received.

So long as you are connected (running activeSync) to your PC and that PC is on the 'net, then you should be accessing the network through the PC. Am I missing something about what you're trying to do?

Am I missing something about what you're trying to do? I've temporarily disabled the orange settings and my phone is now connected to my office PC and activesync is also fine. However when I open IE on the phone it tries to connect to orange and then gives an error message and doesn't connect to the net using the office PC. Is there anything I'm doing wrong here?

Have you got a Proxy in your office?

You will always get that error message when opening IE over anything but the Orange network as long as OrangeWorld is set as your home page, because the OW site is only accessible via Orange's own servers. Even so, other websites should connect fine over ActiveSync- I certainly have no issues with mine. Are you using all the default settings?

Have you managed to solve it and what version of the operating system are you running, 6.1 or 6.5?
Guest John Simmons Posted October 15, 2009 Report Posted October 15, 2009 I'm having connection problems too. Have you managed to solve it and what version of the operating system are you running, 6.1 or 6.5? Thanks everyone for your replies. I finally managed to solve the problem. The problem wasn't with the phone but with the Activesync setting on my PC. I'm indicating below what setting I changed in case it helps someone. Under Activesync --> Connection Settings --> "This computer is connected to" changed to Automatic. It was earlier set as Work and hence it seems it did not work. BTW I'm using WM 6.5
