Guest Medved77 Posted October 15, 2009 Report Posted October 15, 2009 Emailed Toshiba to enquire if they had a list of all the non-windows based improvements that were present in the new rom...... "The answer that we can give for the time being is that Windows Mobile 6.5 will improve the stability and the strenght of the WI-FI connection, the volume of notifications and it will bring access to the Market application." Didn't give much away there then! I thought it only usual that when a company releases an update to it's software a txt file is included detailing the updates and fixes. I also asked if Toshiba had any plans to release an unbranded rom..... "Our team is investigating at the moment the compatibility between Window Mobile 6.5 and unbranded device." What compatibility issues could there possibly be! Surely it would be easier to do as they don't have to preload gprs settings, homescreens maps etc. Anyway hopefully we'll see a stock variant of the upgrade soon (especially for those in Italy!) and hopefully those who bought the device from Orange will also be able to update, I'm sick of all the orange crap on my phone. P.S - I'll give £20 to anyone who can develop a cab to remove all the orange settings, registry entries and programs from the phone. (safely).

(safely). It can't be done via a CAB to remove all this stuff, as it is burned into the ROM. You'd need to cook a new ROM without it. I don't think the memory hit is that great though- I did a 'reset before customisation' with the leaked ROM, and in the 2 minutes grace before the customisations kicked in again, I did manage a Memory check, and there was only about a 5MB difference in Storage, and none in Program memory. You can remove manually a lot of the Orange stuff like the pictures (5MB) , Getting Started video (10MB) and demo games (15MB I think). Using the default (ie simple!) home screen with Chronos and Resco Contact on it, I have 83MB Program emory free after reset and I had 215 MB free storage after the ROM installation.
