Guest c0dehunter Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 I found this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.p...p;postcount=587 link on how to enable g-sensor for 3d carousel but i don't have "Use 3D accelerator" option. How is that possible?
Guest necosino Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 I've tried it too. For some reason it can't detect our Omnia's G-sensor at all :) That trick is if it can detect it, but for some reason the menus don't show up.
Guest c0dehunter Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 Weird. Also, when i click on icon for SMS I don't have that nice look like it should be:
Guest necosino Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 Weird. Also, when i click on icon for SMS I don't have that nice look like it should be: Tap and hold on it, then choose default action -> 3d Message Viewer. Or go to messaging - 3d message viewer.
Guest tedkord Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 Tap and hold on it, then choose default action -> 3d Message Viewer. Or go to messaging - 3d message viewer. The 3D messaging looks nice, but the reply button doesn't work. It doesn't put the addressee in, so you have a blank TO: Field. You have to go into the default MS SMS screen to choose reply, so I just disabled the 3D.
Guest blazingwolf Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 The Omnia does not have the necessary hardware to render the 3D carousel. To get the fancy SMS page you need to tap and hold on the icon. Choose default action and then select open 3D viewer. It will then look like that. You need to do the same thing for email if you want to use the 3D email.

I had the same problem so I don't use the 3D message viewer at all. In fact, when I try to use it, MS becomes non-responsive, and then a soft reset is needed. By the way, I brought this by the good folks over at SPB and they tell me that it should work properly. Figures right? Anyway, it doesn't work for me at all. Edited October 21, 2009 by meabigbaldguy
Guest c0dehunter Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 (edited) Wow, thanks for letting me know that. I'll tell you folks if replying works on my phone. Anyways, I probably wouldn't really use carousel with g-sensor because it's not really anything else than an eyegoodie. edit: does anyone know how to change the clock not to show PM/AM but European style - for example 18:00 not 6:00 PM? Guest yahsaves Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 I figured out how to reply to a message. Just tap and hold the message you want to reply to. Opens a new window in the regular messaging that you can add your reply to that message. Hope that helps.
Guest Unisoldrew Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 Can anyone suggest why my contact photo's don't show up in the 3d viewer (as above)?

Guest tedkord Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 (edited) if you double tap the message, it opens up the standard threaded view and you can reply straight from there. I know that. However, I would think that nice reply button would reply to the frontmost message, but it doesn't. It opens a new message with no addressee. I mean, what is the "reply" button for, then? To reply to no one in particular? Edited October 22, 2009 by tedkord
Guest dwallersv Posted October 23, 2009 Report Posted October 23, 2009 It's a bug, guys. Relax. Bugs are an unavoidable aspect of software. These things will be fixed in the next release. There's an enormous difference between a bug that amounts to an annoyance, and one that has no workaround and makes the product unusable. There are a variety of ways to just as easily access the reply feature in messaging (as have been cited here), so arguably the broken Reply button is nothing more than an asthetic issue. Hardly something to condemn the product over. MS3.5 is a nice step forward from 3.0.1. MS3 is, IMO, well worth the money, and the upgrade to 3.5 is worthwhile too, if for nothing more than the added widgets and improved customization interface. Judging by SPB's past behavior, I expect we'll see a 3.5.1 pretty soon (within 60 days or so of the 3.5 release) fixing these bugs.
Guest dwallersv Posted October 23, 2009 Report Posted October 23, 2009 The Omnia does not have the necessary hardware to render the 3D carousel. I disagree. It doesn't have HW 3-D graphics accelerator, but judging by that ported HTC app -- can't remember the name, but it looks like one is looking at a set of targets or spots floating in 3D like a hologram, and tracks the movements/tilting of the Omnia so that the image really looks like it has depth. This is all done by performing the 3D transforms in software without hardware assist. The processing necessary to do this with the simple flat rectangles that make up the carousel. I believe the Omnia has more than enough processing power to do this, if SPB wanted to make it possible.

Guest meabigbaldguy Posted October 23, 2009 Report Posted October 23, 2009 does anyone know how to change the clock not to show PM/AM but European style - for example 18:00 not 6:00 PM? You don't do this in MS. You'll do this in Settings/System/Regional. There you define both time and date format. SPB should adopt these... at least it always has for me. :D
Guest necosino Posted October 23, 2009 Report Posted October 23, 2009 I think it needs a dedicated video chip to work :D

Guest tommyG Posted November 8, 2009 Report Posted November 8, 2009 Any news on this guys? love the 3d carosel look, even if it is just eye candy! 3d messages arent the same either. Not bad i guess and it seems to run faster Yer so any work around? Tom
Guest gbpucci Posted November 9, 2009 Report Posted November 9, 2009 And about this OpenGL Wrapper (http://www.vincent3d.com/software/ogles1/ogles1.html). I can run a lot of OpenGL demos in my i900 (HG Engine,Sensory Overload, somes PowerVR demos). Maybe can be modified to work with Mobile Shell and others apps (like touchflo3d) []

Guest Gibeon Posted February 22, 2010 Report Posted February 22, 2010 You cannot, because an Omnia doesnt support hardware acceleration :(
