MMS Not working on Vodafone...?

How do everyone...

I've got a pink Hero from mobiles.co.uk for my girlfriend (really it is for my girlfriend) and I'm having the strangest issue with MMS on it.

If I send a message to myself, it sends it fine and receives it fine.

If I send it to another phone, it sends fine and the person receives it fine.

However, If I get one sent to my phone from another phone, it wont receive it.

I just can't understand why, is there anyone here who can actually receive MMS messages from someone else who is on Vodafone?

I haven't bothered posting my APN settings just in case its a known issue but I will do if some people can send messages. I'm on Modaco 2.6 too.

Cheers

Got the same problem(s) in Germany.

Strange enough, I could receive MMS in the first days with MoDaCo 2.5.1 (and radio 63.18.55.06FU_6.35.07.08).

I had to wipe my (German T-Mobile branded) Hero before installing the MoDaCo-ROM, so I definitely know it worked some days ago!

Last successful MMS was received on October 11th (Vodafone Germany). Since last week I have not received MMS including visual voicemail from my mailbox. Always states "Download has failed".

I will call the Vodafone-hotline. :D

Solution, so far:

I had the app "savemms" installed.

Deleted, rebooted.

That's all!

I deleted "swapper" as well, but I guess it was rather "savemms" :D

Hmm, I don't have any of those apps installed. Its on Modaco 2.6... Wonder if it could be a radio / rom issue rather than Vodafone, especially if you've had it working before.

I'm going to have a play around with her phone tonight and see if I can get it working, its annoying! Plus I'm getting ear ache from her as it was my idea to go on Voda :P

Hmm, I will write this just to keep track of this topic, if it appears again:

I had just 15 apps installed besides the MCR-ones.

Rebooting before did not solve the problem, nor pulling the battery.

I just flashed once the rom and radio on the 10th of October.

Good Luck with your girlfriends phone!

Cool, cheers for that, so which Rom version and Radio version are you actually on?

I was still using MoDaCo 2.5.1 as desribed above.

After posting my last reply, I updated to MoDaCo 2.8 (baseband unchanged: 6.35.07.08) and I had several problems using mms, either sending or receiving, no matter to myself or anyone else. Sometimes it worked, sometimes (or to some devices) it did not.

Another strange thing, I checked my apn-settings for the additional mms-apn, made no changes but pressed "save", and the mms were working ... a reboot before did not solve the problem. I have two apns: 1. "type" is default 2. "type" is mms

hm, I will monitor this (and update to the newest rom/radio)... :)

Still an issue!

Updated to MoDaCo 2.9 and radio 63.18.55.06IU_6.35.08.22, first everything worked and after one day I was unable to receive a mms :)

The mms was sent by an iPhone within the Vodafone network. Saving the apn-settings as described earlier did not work.

Shutdown and pulling the battery helped!

Monitoring continues...

I have two apns: 1. "type" is default 2. "type" is mms

There is a 3rd setting: "<Not Set>"

This used to work for me, but doesn't any more (MCR 2.6 Core)

If you want to try it:

Check to see which APN is active (listed underneath the title Access Point Names)

Open Access Point Names

Open your active APN

Scroll down and remove entry from "APN Type"

Save

Once you've made that change you can't then select the APN, but it will stay selected. You can always edit it again to put it back

Hi all. Hoping that someone can solve this.

I had a Hero on Orange, and it was able to send and receive MMS no problems.

I recently upgraded to a Desire, so I network unlocked my Hero so my wife could use it. She's on Vodafone. She was previously using a Samsung Jet (ugh, horrible!) and had no MMS issues, so I know that it *should* work.

When it booted it created the correct network settings for the Vodafone network.

Gmail and internet work fine.

If she tries to send a MMS, it just has the spinning disc next to the message forever and never sends.

If she receives one it has a button for "Download" but nothing happens.

I've checked the APN settings and they look fine. Is there anyone who is on Vodafone with MMS working who can post their settings for me to check against?

Thanks.

I got same problem on my T-Mobile Pulse (with Vodafone SIM). :)

It has never worked since I got my Pulse. I can send and they are received OK.

Not working on 1.5 and also not working with 2.1.

Seems a Vodafone <--> Android mismatch. :)

Update. I installed MCR 4.0 (i.e. Android 2.1) and now sending of MMS messages works!

She still cannot receive though, with the error "Transient Error" or "Generic network error"

If anyone is on Vodafone with MMS working can they please, please, post their APN settings for me to copy?
