Any help will be appreciated Thanks
Guest Globetrader Posted October 27, 2009 Report Posted October 27, 2009 I would love to flash my phone and make it more my own but im scared that i would mess it up No other way, but to do it...realize, it's not as scary as you thought...and become addicted
Guest M4tini Posted October 27, 2009 Report Posted October 27, 2009 "complicated" depends on your operating system, but if you follow the install guide closely it should be no problem. I have Vista 32bit and successfully flashed my omnia at try #1 with this tutorial http://www.modaco.com/content/i900-general-omnia-rom-discussion/283440/updating-omnia-rom-by-using-vista-solution/ And the general advice is like Globetrader said, just do it :D You can always flash WM 6.1 back if you don't like it or screw something up.
Guest Diggedy Posted October 27, 2009 Report Posted October 27, 2009 there are always risks associated with flashing new software to your phone, but follow the instructions carefully and you will realise there is nothing to it. Ive been doing it since I got the phone and must have flashed it 20-30 times if not more in that time. There are roms with few apps, you need to look for UL (ultralite) roms although you might find that the fuller roms only really have useful apps cooked in
Guest weirdo Posted October 27, 2009 Report Posted October 27, 2009 first time was scared to. now im addicted lol read the instructions and flash after succeeded flash you say: glad I've done it :D
Guest Kev23 Posted October 27, 2009 Report Posted October 27, 2009 Do it mate.... is worth it. I was on the vodafone rom as well..... but custom ones are loads better I recommend flasing to a recent 6.1 first (to get your phone part to DXID1) - I used this one http://www.modaco.com/content/i900-general...pp/#entry991695 then flash to 6.5 rom of your choice Just remember to install samsung CDMA driver first.

Guest kronk Posted October 28, 2009 Report Posted October 28, 2009 I got my i900 two days ago, and I already tried 4 firmwares from here. It's no big deal at all, just do it.
Guest Lurwin Posted October 28, 2009 Report Posted October 28, 2009 I am in the technology field... Project Manager... don't get into the low level stuff... but I flashed my phone... and have done it probably 20x since then, trying different things... just follow the directions!!! take the other guys comments about upgrading your phone first, then flash away at 6.5... I LOVE IT! you will be addicted once you get started! These chefs are really good! and fun to try!
Guest tribal Posted October 28, 2009 Report Posted October 28, 2009 I followed the instructions how to flash, stick to them to the last letter, all went fine until at 80% flashing stopped for no apparent reason, no error message, no nothing... and bricked my phone. It cost me 80 EUR to get it back to life (although there's a dude in Romania who claims he can fix bricked phones for 30 EUR). Before you start flashing, you should also consider the risks and ask yourself how much money are you ready to spend in case flashing goes wrong.
Guest jeds Posted October 28, 2009 Report Posted October 28, 2009 my findings to overcome your fear: try it once... :D if it hurts then you can stop.
Guest 70blzr Posted October 28, 2009 Report Posted October 28, 2009 you will see that if you follow all the directions and read a lot of post from various cooks that everyone is willing to help you get started, and assist you after you flash also. but it does get very addicting, so make sure you do back-ups of your data.
Guest jmsmartins Posted October 28, 2009 Report Posted October 28, 2009 first time was scared to. now im addicted lol read the instructions and flash after succeeded flash you say: glad I've done it :D +1! The fear you have will be transformed into addiction and you won't be able to stop flashing. like everything in this world, it has some risks but if you do it the right way you will succeed. flash and be amazed. Since you don't want much apps installed i recommend you a rom from KC or a lite one from nicklas or shokka9. since you are really noob, i recommend you also to read the respective posts. wellcome to the flash world
Guest ansh_xaviers Posted October 28, 2009 Report Posted October 28, 2009 (edited) dude go for it...ya u should be scared .....u should be scared of getting addicted :D ....just few correct clicks and u r done.. Edited October 29, 2009 by ansh_xaviers
Guest kav Posted October 29, 2009 Report Posted October 29, 2009 Don't dare to flash it!!! You will brick it for sure like the others monahans bricked ones. that was uncalled for. very childish.if u are scared s*** out of ur pants to try new roms then keep ur s*** together. please do not share useless information. u cannot give any guarantee that he will brick his fone.
Guest kav Posted October 29, 2009 Report Posted October 29, 2009 flashing is very simple. its like updating windows on ur pc ( if u use that OS :D ) just read relevant posts and follow instructions and it will be fine. just follow exactly everything abt the instructions. flashing on vista is not really advisable, i myself am running vista but i have VMware running XP Pro SP3, just to be on the safe side. better be safe than sorry. concerning the bricking of the fone,, it has 2 parts actually, a radio (phone) part and a PDA part. the radio part is all abt the phone itself and the communication stuffs while the PDA is all abt an OS (wm 6.1/6.5/6.5.1) running. if i can make the comparison with a pc,, the radio part is the BIOS while the PDA part is the OS u install on the harddrive. both are important. but back to the point, flashing the radio part with custom stuffs has a higher risk of bricking the omnia, but flashing the PDA part with custom roms here,is much safer. most roms here if not all, are only the PDA part so it is just changing the OS in the omnia. read ,learn. all the info and help u need, u will get here. enjoy flashing then.
