Dialer on Pulse

I have been using Android on my HTC Tytn-II for a about 6 months and like it so much I now have a shiny new T-mobile Pulse :-). However I am not so keen on the dialler app on the pulse :-(. I miss the favourites/starred contacts tab in the dialler, is there any way to modify the dialler in Pulse or replace it with the 'default' android 1.5 one?

Thanks.

Probably, I agree, I don't like it, I might look into it...

Since we are on the topic here I throw in another question.

My roomates HTC Hero comes with this awesome dialer/contacts/phonebook app which seems much more advanced than what I can see on the Pulse. It seemlessly integrates with Facebook, even uses contact images or trys to merge Fb contacts with the contact...

A) What is the standard phonebook app called (i guess contacts.apk?)

:D What amazing piece of software is used on the Hero ? (Is it an apk? Does it depend on UI Sense Framework?)

C) Theoretically, would it be possible to backup the HTC Hero contact book app?

D) If not, any other good phonebook suggestions. I'd certainly be willing to pay for a good app...

Any thoughts to that, anybody?

cheers,~T

PS:

Thank you Paul, for the amazing work, after struggling with SD mount problems first I finally read through the forum carefully and got my pulse working like a charm...

Paul is there any chance of you porting the HTC rom and making a custom hero rom for the pulse so that it has Sense ui.. :P I think it's been done for the g1 and the Magic because of your hard work

because I mean if you did my friend would rush out to buy one :D

hmmmmm.. :P ok..

So any chance of 2.0 android hitting the pulse? :D

Because I know Huawei are unlikely to produce software updates for it due it have to port that home screen, t-moblie might but i wouldn't count on it.

Can't do anything until we get the Pulse kernel source ...
