Guest danny2055 Posted February 2, 2003 Report Posted February 2, 2003 hi, ive recently swapped my GX10 for an orange SPV smartphone because i was assured by vodafone-retail the sim card should work in it if it was unlocked (which it has been) problem being that the GPRS wasn't configured out of the box, and vodafone having never seen an SPV before can't help me out with the settings and nomatter what I put in it just keeps on saying "dialling..." and "page cannot be found" can anyone help me? im getting desperate!! i love this smartphone but need GPRS otherwise its next-to-useless to me! im told the GPRS standard for Orange is different to Vodafone's so it might need a firmware upgrade, is this true? i thought GPRS was an open standard? PS heres a link to my origional post: http://www.whatmobile.net/forum/topic.asp?...p?TOPIC_ID=6847 thanks in advance for any help! --Danny
Guest HelloDave Posted February 2, 2003 Report Posted February 2, 2003 Try asking Vodafone for their GPRS settings (you might need MMS too) but pretend you have a different phone; the settings will be the same on all phones, it's just where you enter them. The problem is that CS reps get scared if you tell them you've got a phone that isn't on their list so they can't read out the settings step by step and (god forbid!) might actually have to think. (OK, rant over ;)) Once you've got the settings do a search on this forum for "GPRS settings" and enter your info instead of the Orange settings.

A beautiful MoDaCo story :) Xanadu, could you add these settings to the repository in Articles? This would help the next people who need them... Thanks!

Guest g00ner Posted March 27, 2004 Report Posted March 27, 2004 I have come into possession of and E200 and am using a vodafone sim in it. I have got GPRS to work and can use IE and MSN. If l receive an MMS message it asks me to go to vodafone live and download. Also if l send an MMS it fails. According my vodafone service provider l have MMS enabled. Any suggestions?
Guest martin Posted March 27, 2004 Report Posted March 27, 2004 Did you try changing the gateway to 'WAP 1.0 gateway' in MMS setup ?
Guest g00ner Posted March 27, 2004 Report Posted March 27, 2004 It has always been set to wap 1.0 Just spoken to my vodafone service provider again and got them to double check to see if MMS was enabled. This time round l was told it wasn't enabled. Now working ok.

Guest jimhobby Posted February 4, 2005 Report Posted February 4, 2005 Hi guys. Guess what I'm having trouble getting my uk voda GPRS working on my unlocked SPV E200. I've followed the info supplied in this thread, but still it doesn't work. Am I missing something? :?: <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Me too, I've tried all the settings, still to no avail :D
Guest jimhobby Posted February 4, 2005 Report Posted February 4, 2005 Me too, I've tried all the settings, still to no avail :D <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Aha - clear the IP Address field, and it all works. Nearly fell off my chair, having been trying to do this for 6 months! Even Activesync with the Exchange Server works a treat now! Thanks for the above help!
Guest SKOOBICE Posted March 8, 2005 Report Posted March 8, 2005 Me too, I've tried all the settings, still to no avail :D <{POST_SNAPBACK}> DITTO!!!! heeeeeeeelp!!!!!!!
Guest martin Posted March 8, 2005 Report Posted March 8, 2005 SKOOBICE Do you get the top centre G displayed on the phone when it's turned on ? Is it a prepay or contract SIM that you are using ?
Guest davefrayne Posted March 8, 2005 Report Posted March 8, 2005 Mine is stillllllllll playing up mms wise - have given up now and also im due my upgrade on the voda contract *ponders new phone* I know that either one of two things is happening, either IM not putting the info in the correct place (which i am) or the phone just isnt playing ball. Its annoying as im confident this phone has a million features, but due to not getting some basics right its a stock standard as the day i got it from the shop. Im keen to reset everything and start over, but again little niggly probs like cant figuere out how to copy sim contacts to pc.. *groans* Ive always thought i was middle to fair in pc know how, but this phone has caused me so many grey hairs its crazy! I know some of you must read this and go "how can they not get it" but its stumped me big time!!
Guest martin Posted March 8, 2005 Report Posted March 8, 2005 Have you tried using the secure WAP connection for MMS ? 1 Create a new GPRS connection, same as GPRS WAP data but with 'Connects to: Secure WAP network'. 2 Attach the above GPRS connection to the Secure WAP Connection in the Data Connections Menu. 3. In MMS software set the connection to Secure WAP Network. Usually works :D
