Guest GB-UK Posted October 30, 2009 Report Posted October 30, 2009 Hi, I'm new to the whole android scene having just ordered a T-Mobile Pulse. I have a couple of questions that I would like you more experienced users to help me with if you can. I've had a good look around for a screen protector of the Pulse but cannot find any. Does anyone know of a good source of protection for the screen on the pulse? I have been told that you cannot put apps onto the microSD card, is this true? I realise that the Pulse doesn't have the biggest memory around so was wondering if there was a way to enable the storage of apps on the memory card? The Pulse comes with android 1.5 but have seen that the latest version is 2.0. Can you install the latest version on the Pulse? I've seen the new google maps app which is only available for 2.0 so would hope that this is possible! Thanks for the help!
Guest Paul Posted October 31, 2009 Report Posted October 31, 2009 My Pulse came with a screen protector on! P
Guest GB-UK Posted October 31, 2009 Report Posted October 31, 2009 My Pulse came with a screen protector on! P Well thats one less thing to worry about!! But do you know where to get replacements from as I have searched everywhere and cannot find any? Also can you help with the other questions? I'm thinking of getting Copilot live, that seems to run from the SD card, if that is true how come they can do it but other apps cannot?
Guest GB-UK Posted October 31, 2009 Report Posted October 31, 2009 Well my pulse arrive about 10 minutes ago!! So much for the postal strike! Wat apps do people recomend for a new user to have?
Guest branwen Posted October 31, 2009 Report Posted October 31, 2009 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=478117 Has a list of every good app available, its long, but if you read the first couple and last couple of pages you should get a good idea :D Apps on sd is not really necessary, it was for older models. BUT if you want to root, Paul has made it fairly easy, and included apps2sd http://android.modaco.com/content/t-mobile...ure-stock-roms/ And I would hold fast on purchasing any nav software, unless you need it asap, as the google nav software should be free, and frankly seems to do an awesome job. Oh and welcome to the club :P Enjoy the phone!
Guest rss2k Posted October 31, 2009 Report Posted October 31, 2009 Apps on sd is not really necessary, it was for older models. http://android.modaco.com/content/t-mobile...ure-stock-roms/ I do not get this, with some applications I have gathered my memory is full and my SD card is virtually empty. I had to remove some applications already. I have bought an 8GB SD card specifically for this. I am a bit surprised that it does not work automatically. I am going read into the rooting part.

That is exactly what I mean. It should have come as standard!

I was looking at the google sat nav stuff and it does look good, only problem I can see is that it needs to be connected to the net. So if your out of coverage and lost then its no use. Thats why I was looking at the co pilot software, it looks good and is pretty cheap aswell.

Guest Timmmm Posted November 5, 2009 Report Posted November 5, 2009 I took the screen protector it comes with off. It adversely affected the touchscreen sensitivity.
Guest goatee Posted November 6, 2009 Report Posted November 6, 2009 Really? How so? I took the screen protector it comes with off. It adversely affected the touchscreen sensitivity.
Guest Timmmm Posted November 6, 2009 Report Posted November 6, 2009 I'm pretty sure it was quite a bit less sensitive with the protector. As in, it didn't register touches often. To be honest it's not amazing (i.e. iPhone quality) without the protector, but it is good enough.
Guest helikopter Posted November 7, 2009 Report Posted November 7, 2009 "I'm pretty sure it was quite a bit less sensitive with the protector. As in, it didn't register touches often. To be honest it's not amazing (i.e. iPhone quality) without the protector, but it is good enough" i did the same a few day ago and i can say that the screen sensivity is uncomparably better now then how it was before. but now i'm a bit worried about scratches as the pulse's screen is not covered by glass as on higher end models but plastic, so i think i'll still search for a good screen protector. can somebody who used the same stuff on other devices confirm that the one that i linked earlier can do the trick well?
Guest twe Posted November 7, 2009 Report Posted November 7, 2009 I emailed invisible shields today for an ETA on their protector for the Pulse, will report back if they reply. Anyone know of any other skin wraps similar to that available?
Guest twe Posted November 9, 2009 Report Posted November 9, 2009 Well I got a reply from invisibleskinz, not the best but hopeful about the product: "Our pre-order items are not set to release at a definite time, as we wait for the manufacturer to release them to us, howver when we have pre-orders listed it means we expect them to be available within a couple of weeks. I hope this helps!"
Guest twe Posted November 10, 2009 Report Posted November 10, 2009 (edited) No worries. I also asked another company called bestskinsever.com and they said: "We might add a Skin for the T-Mobile Pulse to our lineup in the future. At this time its not on the design schedule so we do not have an exact availability date to offer. We apologize for any inconvenience." edit: Not sure if I can post a coupon for invisibleskinz on this site? Found it off the net and reduces it from $25 to $20.... Edited November 10, 2009 by twe
Guest helikopter Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009 Not sure if I can post a coupon for invisibleskinz on this site? Found it off the net and reduces it from $25 to $20.... that would be great as i'm still looking to buy one as soon as it gets available.
Guest twe Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009 20% off coupon code: MyDigi2993 Found from this website: http://www.mydigitallife.info/2009/09/03/i...kinz-com-store/ There are some 30% codes around but so far they seem to be for the iphone and other specific phones.... Just google it and see if you get lucky with another code :)
Guest twe Posted November 18, 2009 Report Posted November 18, 2009 Well I got this email from zagg.com who are the manufacturers of the INVISIBLEshield so am a little worried now as I have ordered it from invisibleskinz... "Thank you for contacting ZAGG..... In regards to your email, unfortunately at this time, we have not been able to design an invisibleSHIELD for the the T-Mobile Pulse. We currently have our "Hot Gadgets" program which gives our customer's the opportunity to send us their device, we design the invisibleSHIELD from your device, and then send your device back to you free of charge. If you currently own a T-Mobile Pulse, and would like to send us your device so that we can design an invisibleSHIELD for it, please contact our Hot Gadget Department at the following link. http://www.zagg.com/hotgadgets/index.php Regrettably at this time, I am unable to provide you a timeframe for when the T-Mobile Pulse invisibleSHIELD will be released. I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I hope this helps! Please feel free to contact me if you have any further questions or comments."
Guest helikopter Posted January 8, 2010 Report Posted January 8, 2010 (edited) GOOD NEWS! i wrote an email today to invisible skinz who were constantly promising screen protectors for the pulse since october but nothing seemed to happen since then. i asked them if they really had any plans for our device. they replied me back very quickly. here's the answer: "We do have the Pulse, it must have been an oversight, but it recently has become available. I will order one today for inventory. Thanks for being a great and patient customer, and please let me know if there is anything else I can do for you." i replied back that the status is still "not yet available" on the webpage. new answer: "I noticed that and have the person in charge of the web-page upkeep changing it today. Thanks again for the heads up!" it seems that finally we will have a decent screen protecting solution. i'll definitely order one asap. i feel lucky that my screen is still scratchless although i use it without the stock protector from the first day. edit: here's the official zagg page. you can order one right now! you can use coupons which can easily be found by google. like on this page. it worked for me. I've sort of given up on the whole screen protector thing. The screen is made of glass so it should be ok provided you don't abuse it. I figure that even if my screen does scratch, by the time it is scratched enough to actually become an issue, i'll probably be ready get another phone anyway. BTW, Does ANYONE on this forum actually have scratches on their screen?
Guest wlee Posted January 8, 2010 Report Posted January 8, 2010 cool been waiting for one of these for a while now, i tend to keep the same phone for few years before i replace so deffo want one of these
