Guest DrainBamage Posted October 31, 2009 Report Posted October 31, 2009 Hi everyone! Is it possible to add Russian keyboard to the list of available keyboards ? Most of my contacts are in English, so, unfortunately, Russian locale doesnt work for me, since it only allows to search Russian letters in the phonebook. Thanks!
Guest 1immortal Posted October 31, 2009 Report Posted October 31, 2009 you can install additional keyboard like anykeyboard or better keyboard , they do a great job with russian .

Guest hniu Posted January 8, 2010 Report Posted January 8, 2010 (edited) you can install additional keyboard like anykeyboard or better keyboard , they do a great job with russian . These are not nearly as good as HTC TouchInput Russian keyboard! At the moment the only way to switch to proper Russian keyboard is to use Russian Locale which will switch the whole UI to Russian. It would really be great if you could leave the original English UI and just change language of the keyboard! Edited January 8, 2010 by hniu

It seems like what I was looking for, but I am not a developer and not that familiar with linux. From what I understood, I need to install AndroidSDK on my PC, then follow this guide to get to the command line and finally follow the guide you've suggested. Is that about right? Do I need to root the phone before doing it?
