Guest jank.dk Posted November 2, 2009 Report Posted November 2, 2009 Hi According to ASTRO's process list, the least memory-hungry app running currently on my Hero is using 5.57MB (Google Partner Setup). The calculator app is using 6.34MB - on my Windows XP the calc app only uses about half of that. And to make matters even more strange, the Calculator.apk file is 51KB (unpacked: 62KB). So the app is using approx 100x the size of its .apk file. The pattern is the same on all the other apps. OK - I can accept that the browser is using several MBs of memory if it is holding a large page in memory, but AK Notepad, Wifi Analyzer, Calculator etc ? These apps have a very small list of features - still they are using 6-7 MBs of RAM ? I have to admit that I don't know much about the Android system, but these figures just seem excessive - especially considering the size of the .apk-files.

Those numbers do seem a little off most of my apps use about 1-2mb ram depending what they are. Google Listen and Spotify of course take about 5-10mb depending on what there doing. I would consider using another app to check the usage... I am using comp cache so that might make a difference. but 6-7mb for calc does sound wrong.
