Guest Wesz-T Posted November 2, 2009 Report Posted November 2, 2009 So yesterday I installed the Modaco Custom ROM for my hero. But the 'please turn your wifi off' notication you get when you aren't connected to any wireless network is really nagging me. Is there a way to turn this notification off? I've been looking inside the settings menu for wireless networks and notifications but I can't seem to find any option. Thanks!

Uninstall it via adb mate that gets rid. adb remount adb shell rm system/app/com.schwimmer.android.wifistatus.apk Edited November 3, 2009 by clarkEEE1
Guest Wesz-T Posted November 2, 2009 Report Posted November 2, 2009 I tried this and rebooted afterwards. But it's still giving me the notification. Turn wifi off Wifi not connected. Select to turn wifi off.

Select to turn wifi off. Your not doing it right then if its not gone because that's what the app is called its just an app that Paul added in his Rom. An easyier way for you this way works as well I just tried it. Go into system/app in your file manager I.e sufs or root explorer and delete from there its called com.schwimmer.android.wifistatus.apk
Guest Wesz-T Posted November 2, 2009 Report Posted November 2, 2009 (edited) I used rootexplorer to delete it and it worked. Thanks! The notifcation is gone. Only the notification sound is still there. Is there a way to disable that too? Edited November 2, 2009 by Wesz-T

Guest clarkEEE1 Posted November 2, 2009 Report Posted November 2, 2009 The sound has nothing to do with the program now you need to go to settings, wireless controls, wifi settings and untick notify me when available network that should sort it I think.
Guest Wesz-T Posted November 2, 2009 Report Posted November 2, 2009 Thanks for your help, I've already tried that. Still getting that sound though.
Guest Wesz-T Posted November 2, 2009 Report Posted November 2, 2009 (edited) I have worked out a solution. It isn't the one I was looking for but it does the trick. This is what i did. So the notification was gone but the sound was still there. I created a 0.5 second silence in audacity and exported it as Silence.mp3. I copied it over to my SD-Card and then moved it from the sd card to /system/media/audio/notifications. Rebooted the device. Went to settings, sound & display, notification sound en set it to Silence. Then i set the notifications sound for Gmail, Mail, Text messages, Google Talk etc. separately inside the app itself. Now all notification sounds are gone except those you've set yourself. This isn't the ultimate solution but it works. Edited November 2, 2009 by Wesz-T

Good thinking that is the only way of doing it I think I were looking round all the settings but found nothing either glad ya sorted it now lol.
Guest dwattsy21 Posted November 3, 2009 Report Posted November 3, 2009 Glad to hear you sorted it, i removed it using root explorer, and dont have notification sounds for it anyway. I think there is a shout for this not being included in the ROM
