T-mobile Pulse ... Now unlocked with i-smartsim 2008

Hi Everyone,

Just to inform you that I have unlocked my T-mobile pulse and now it happily runs on Vodafone !

How ?

I ordered a i-smartSIM 2008 off ebay, it worked first time i put it in ! only cost me £5.79 so who now cares about paying T-mobile £15 and having to wait 3 months !

:D

Quick update: Just tried all features since unlock and all is working perfect !

I know this is not a pure unlock but with T-mobile informing some customers that they cannot have their phones unlock for 3 months, then this is the only way Unless the ones that say they have a pure unlock share how they got it done !

Check my ebay sales number 300361301688 :D

Hi glad you got it working however the title is a little misleading. Its not actually unlocked, your just bypassing the sim lock by using a turbo sim.

Still whatever works for you! :P

Personally i would prefer the unlock code from tmobile.

I can also confirm that my T-mobile is now running on the 02 network in conjunction with tthe i-smartSIM 2008 off ebay. I had to make a slight slit in the sim card to make room for the smartSIM controller. I also payed £5.99, why bother getting it unlocked? Am I in for intermittent service, only time will tell....

Is it this one? http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.12167

It's the place where a lot of ebay sellers buy and get it drop shipped, currently $4 delivered so less than half the price if that is correct.

Wanted to ask if you guys can change the settings for the numbers that the phone dials? So things like internet through your contract, mms messages, sms, etc are fine?

I am on o2 simplicity with a unlimited web bolt on and 3G works fine once you input your APN settings (mobile.o2.co.uk username password etc etc) The phone picks up the sms message centre automatically. The only thing I can get to change is the voicemail number that gets dialed when I hold down one, its just doesn't come up with a keypad to change it. Not tried mms, but there were some settings to add in the APN config box so I'm presumming that would work fine. The operator text even displays properly (Telefonica 02 UK Limited instead of o2)

Thanks for that, I am on Vodafone stuck in a contract but want a new phone....

Finally I bought a iSmartPhone card (5Ł) at Luton Airport, while I was waiting for my plane. It did the trick, so my phone is "unlocked" now. Thanks for the tip!

I've just bought the T-Mobile Pulse; I was very tempted before and with the price drop plus quidco I had to take the plunge! Since my contract is with o2 I'll need to get it unlocked so this i-smartSIM 2008 is intriguing because it's cheap and am I right in assuming that it doesn't actually do anything to the phone (so warranty wouldn't be void etc).

I notice there's plenty of alternatives to the i-smartSIM 2008, so which is the best to go for? All of them seem quite cheap so I'm just wondering if anyone knows which is the best? I've no idea on the matter! Thanks :D

Thats correct, it doesnt change any settings on the phone.

However saying that obtaining an unlock code from tmobile wont change the warranty either, a proper sim unlock code is still the best way.

Thanks, I think I might give this a try first and then if I have any problems I'll try and get it unlocked from T-Mobile. I was just wondering about updates. Sorry if this has been mentioned elsewhere but if there are any over-the-air updates to the phone and I'm using my o2 sim I presumably won't receive them. If I put the T-Mobile sim back would I then get the updates? I'm assuming the firmware be updated manually anyway.

Do you need to cut the sim to use it with ismartsim?

yup, tiny 5 x 5mm slit at the top to allow it to fit in the phone with the chip on the i sim. Does nothing to the sim as its only a slit in the plastic of the sim. So your free to use it in another phone with the I SIM.

Luckily my iSmartPhone card is so slim, that it can perfectly fit behind my SIM card, no cut was necessary.

I cannot get it to work. i had to trim the top of my sim card off (the unused plastic part). inserted it behind my sim. But when i switch my phone on, all i get is 'No sim card' message.

How do i fix it?

Thanks
