MMS not working in Modaco 2.8

I recently upgraded to modaco 2.8 from an earlier version, and MMS has not been working ever since. I downgraded today to a generic Hero ROM (available in the sticky), and its working fine with the same settings.

The only reason I didn't keep it was because I couldnt find certain apps in the market place. Apparently this is because there is a copy protection restricting certain phone ROMs , e.g dev phones from downloading them. This issue also affected the unrooted ROM.

Is this a known issue or is it just me? Any help would be appreciated.
