Guest Higgsy Posted November 3, 2009 Report Posted November 3, 2009 (edited) Anyone tried the above radio listed on xda: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=563757 Seems to have been part of WWE 2.73.405.61 dev listed here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=579596 Just wondered if any of you guys have flashed it in conjuction with MCR 2.8 + Teks 1.8 kernel Always striving for better reception - the walls in my house seem to be lined with lead! Cheers, H Edited November 3, 2009 by Higgsy
Guest Higgsy Posted November 3, 2009 Report Posted November 3, 2009 Well took the plunge because I'm a little impatient, I can say it works ok with the above combination of rom/kernel. Can still make and recieve calls data all ok - initial thoughts does seem to be a little improvement but, will look forward to getting home where 3g signal is patchy because at the moment I'm in the middle of a city at work and have full bars on HSDPA - however saying that earlier the signal was up and down like a yoyo earlier here and now its stable.

Guest cTn Posted November 4, 2009 Report Posted November 4, 2009 Just installed, will test tomorrow and post feedback. cant tell if this is directly related, because i also grabbed the newest rom with lox kernel (2.73.405.61) yesterday i couldn't enable edge, so i needed to reboot my phone (then it work) today i couldn't to any of my im accounts via meebo, so i rebooted and it work after a hour or so hole meebo crashed (force close ...) so thats my experience with the latest rom + radio oh and edge + trackball bug is still present

Guest leshii Posted November 4, 2009 Report Posted November 4, 2009 This radio is actually amazing, im on Orange (UK) and i used to get 1-2 bars where im sat now, after updating i get 2-3 bars which never usually happened. Just had a convo with a friend (in the same place) and everythings good, aswell as texting and 3G =] Well I can say that it doesn't seem a great deal different from the last one but then again i live in a bit of a ditch and everything since the shipped one has been better. Actualy just walked round the ground floor of the house and seem to get at lease 1 bar no matter where i am so i would say that this is a bit better than the last one and miles ahead of the shipped radio. in fact i would say that it now surpasses the radio from my charmer which again was a bit sketchy. On Tmob UK here . Thumbs up Modaco, certainly aren't any problems here if you have a UK Hero I would wholeheartedly recommend installing this radio. :D
Guest t89 Posted November 5, 2009 Report Posted November 5, 2009 Agreed. I'm getting better reception (used to be 1-2 bars, now 3-4). I'm on T-Mob btw.
Guest bunt83 Posted November 5, 2009 Report Posted November 5, 2009 I'm on Tmob UK and can definitely see an improvement in the signal since upgrading to this radio. I'd recommend everyone upgrades!
Guest Markoc84 Posted November 5, 2009 Report Posted November 5, 2009 I'm on Orange UK, and the reception was awful with shipped one, always dropping signal completly, this new one is so much better, and i actually got HSPDA at home for te first time ever, WOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
Guest stripealipe Posted November 5, 2009 Report Posted November 5, 2009 Yes, confirmed, i was getting a signal bouncing between one and occassionally 2 bars here at work. I'm now getting mainly 3 bars, dropping down to 2 every now and then. All good!
Guest Higgsy Posted November 5, 2009 Report Posted November 5, 2009 Well after a days use, the main thing i notice is the stability of the signal - previously my signal would be up and down like a yoyo, now it hardly moves. Def an improvement here, Paul now recommends this anyway so everyone who's on MCR 2.9 should have it.

I am acutally finding that when I can't browse modaco in mobile view - I have to browse it in full web mode. When I try and go into a topic in mobile view I just get a white screen - only since this new radio. BBC site is ok though in mobile view, as is google. Strange.

Guest khunjj Posted November 8, 2009 Report Posted November 8, 2009 yep its good with bars and wifi but the 3g data packet needs to be looked at something with the 3g connection not that good it kinda stalls sometimes. +1, it looks same as FU version. :) Go back to EU version for checking to ensure this. Any1 has same experience! :D
Guest Fok@ Posted November 8, 2009 Report Posted November 8, 2009 Works great for me I'm t-mob user. I have got +1 extra bar and also 3g is stable while driving.
Guest lycrawearer Posted November 8, 2009 Report Posted November 8, 2009 Works for me also ... Signal is much more stable, and strength has increased by 1 bar in my house :) I'm happy !
Guest khunjj Posted November 8, 2009 Report Posted November 8, 2009 +1, it looks same as FU version. :) Go back to EU version for checking to ensure this. Any1 has same experience! :D After using EU for half day, I realized that the issue is not from IU (probably either from poor indoor signal in my house or from high data traffic using of mobile network). I then decided to stick with IU and as same as others, signal strength is better. :D
Guest mr_tiff Posted November 9, 2009 Report Posted November 9, 2009 is it ok to use the latest radio ending with .22 with an older version of modaco rom (2.2)
