Guest Gasman2 Posted November 5, 2009 Report Posted November 5, 2009 Hi I have a T-Mobile G2 - so far unaltered from its standard state... I've been trying to connect to the 'market', but without any success. I've tried logging on using a current Gmail account and creating a new one - but I always get an error message, usually: "Can't establish a reliable data connection to the server". This seems to be the case whether I've got a 3G signal or not and when I'm sitting here with a full strength, unlocked wifi signal. I have no proble browsing etc... but can't get into 'market'. Should I be able to access market over the wifi connection? What's going wrong? Many thanks :D

I never did this and had the same problems as you. The only way I got around this was resetting the phone to factory settings (back-up your contacts first if you can), then put your Gmail log-in details on the re-boot. Hope this helps!
Guest kendon Posted November 5, 2009 Report Posted November 5, 2009 my father had the problem that he wasn't able to browse the market vie wifi, but it worked in cell network. since he doesn't have a data plan he did not use it much though. i installed mcr2.8 on his hero last weekend, but i actually do not know how the market issue turned out. did you try a wipe?
Guest Gasman2 Posted November 5, 2009 Report Posted November 5, 2009 Did you set-up your Gmail settings in the wizard when you first booted the phone? No I didn't!! It asked me if I wanted to add them later and so I skipped that step. Is there no other way to access them? Can I go through set up again? Not too worried about wiping contacts etc as they're sync'd off Outlook - but would be nice if there was a better way to get over this. PS - thanks for the speedy response.
Guest Gasman2 Posted November 5, 2009 Report Posted November 5, 2009 did you try a wipe? Not yet... still hoping there's a better way!

PS - thanks for the speedy response. Don't think there is unfortunately! The set-up is there under 'Manage Applications' but I don't think there is a way to restart it. Factory reset was the only option I could find (via Google Forums) and it worked! Good luck! :D
Guest Gasman2 Posted November 9, 2009 Report Posted November 9, 2009 Went for the wipe - problem cured. Now works well.
