Guest ukdownhill Posted February 2, 2003 Report Posted February 2, 2003 Prob a silly question but is it possible to remove the top cover from your spv and how do you do it? Somehow i have managed to get dust on the inner screen and would like to remove it. I guess it must be possible as i have a voucher in the box for replaceable covers, would be strange to offer that if you cant take the cover off! :?
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted February 2, 2003 Report Posted February 2, 2003 The dust problem is very well known and very irritating. Unfortunately theres no way to remove it without removing the cover which will invalidate your warentee. See here for details on dismantling the SPV
Guest ajb3000 Posted February 2, 2003 Report Posted February 2, 2003 a voucher for replacable covers? from who? Orange? HTC? My SPV cover is getting so scratched i would do nething to replace it!!
Guest zenabi Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 I have so much dust under my screen, mainly accumilating at the top-left so I assume it's coming in from the speaker gap. BTW the vacuum solution does not work, believe me I've Dysoned my SPV ;)
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 And i've tried an aeresol can of compressed air in every orifice i can find on the SPV, to no avail :/
Guest Deemon Posted February 14, 2003 Report Posted February 14, 2003 yeah ive tried the dyson trick too...no effect what so ever.... it seems to be getting worse by the week.... will they give you a replacement for dust under the screen ? and more importantly will you get a new phone back or a second hand one ?
Guest madu Posted February 14, 2003 Report Posted February 14, 2003 Mine's got dust too as well as numerous scratches! It appears that there is no easy way of dealing with these. My phone seems to be an *ok* version of SPV meaning that it never had serious hardware faults which makes me reluctant to exchanging it. Might wait till the update comes out and then get a replacement. Will they do it though??
Guest Thurstan Posted February 14, 2003 Report Posted February 14, 2003 Yes they will replace your SPV because of dust, as it is sealed incorrectly. Orange replaced my second SPV because of this. My first didn't have the problem, and touch wood neither has my third so far (two months).
Guest ukdownhill Posted February 14, 2003 Report Posted February 14, 2003 To ajb3000, The money off cover voucher was inside the folder that my talk plan was stored in when i bought my phone form an orange outlet, along with £20 of bluetooth handsfree and £5 off triple pack... On closer inspection of these vouchers they appear to be non specific to the spv. Nice of orange to give me vouchers off a phone cover that i can never use with my ORANGE phone (probably) :?
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted February 14, 2003 Report Posted February 14, 2003 And money off a bluetooth headset for a non-bluetooth phone :-| P
Guest pwig Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 Mine has accumulated quite alot of dust in the top left.. so can I send it back and get a new one?
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 If you have Orange care give them a call and see what they say.
