Guest Iggy82 Posted November 7, 2009 Report Posted November 7, 2009 I changed my ROM to MoDaCo's custom 2.8 ROM in order to apply a sim unlock code. It previously did not work on my phone because there is a bug with the Orange UK ROM. However, now that the simunlock has been successful due to MoDaCo's ROM, I'd really like to return to the official ROM. Can I use my gold card & a RUU ROM from here or will something go wrong? I'm technically minded, managed to install the 2.73.405.5 official ROM with the RUU thing only to find that still wouldn't accept my simunlock! Anyway, MoDaCo's firmware has worked after I had to use flashrec to put the old boot back on in order to program the MoDaCo rom! All very confusing to me, I just want standard HTC ROM which will be upgradeable when new updates come out. I'm not bothered about all this messing about rooting stuff, please help!

Guest Iggy82 Posted November 7, 2009 Report Posted November 7, 2009 Why on earth would you want to go back to a stock rom after using Paul's? :) To answer your question, just flash the Orange ROM and you'll be back to normal. I take it you accessed the recovery rom through ADB and did not 'install' it on your phone? Don't get me wrong I love Paul's software, in fact I'm in two minds whether or not to go back to the stock HTC ROM! I guess after owning an iPhone I got fed up trying to 'catch up' with Apple all the time to make sure I could have the latest features through jailbroken software, in the end I got fed up and just stuck with the Apple stuff. I have installed a custom recovery image in order to load the custom MoDaCo roms, so I think the correct answer is "Yes, I did install it on my phone", why is this bad?!

I have just bought an Orange locked SIM only Hero (£342 @ Phones4U) thinking I could just call Orange and get the unlock code for £20. I found out they make you wait 3 months before allowing this.... I think my only option is to install the MoDaCom ROM and then go to unlock-now.com - I would like to know if there are easy steps to then revert back to the official HTC ROM for the same reasons as Iggy82.

All the official ROM updaters. You should be able to just run the one for your provider and it should go back to stock as if you just bought the thing. :) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=559622
