Guest husstech Posted November 9, 2009 Report Posted November 9, 2009 Hello all! I have had the Pulse for two weeks now, and I love it! In my search for general info on android and the Pulse led me to this forum, and it's by far the best I have seen....so I joined! So i want to use wifi at my uni but they use WPA2-Enterprise which I don't think there is any support for it. From what I have read, android is capable of using it but it's not been implemented. I found this link which shows you how you can use it http://pboos.ch/wordpress/2009/04/android-...pa2-enterprise/ But you need to have a rooted phone. So here are my questions. Can I un-root my phone, what would happen if I do (I would like Andorid updates if they come)? Also is there any news of an update to eclair or donut for the Pulse? Many thanks, husstech
Guest Paul Posted November 9, 2009 Report Posted November 9, 2009 There is no reason whatsoever not to root using my superboot method, which will let you use this 'hack'. P
Guest husstech Posted November 10, 2009 Report Posted November 10, 2009 There is no reason whatsoever not to root using my superboot method, which will let you use this 'hack'. P Hi Paul, I'm just trying to use the superboot, but i'm having some trouble. In step 1 what do you mean by extract to a directory? Also with the issue of the missing adb exe/dll files, should I download them from that zip file and put them into the 1.1-pulse-superboot file? And do i rename the adb file to add the .dll extension? forgive my n00b questions, thanks for your help husstech

I think he allready fixed the missing dll. I have rooted my pulse without doing this step.
Guest husstech Posted November 10, 2009 Report Posted November 10, 2009 Thanks for the replies but i still can't root my device. Here are my exact steps 1. download the superboot zip from the first post in the superboot thread, it's saved to my desktop. 2. I extract the zip to my desktop, this creates a folder called 1.1-pulse-superboot with another two folders within it. one also called 1.1-pulse-superboot and another called __MACOSX. 3. Phone is on bootloader mode... 4. I open the 1.1-pulse-superboot and double click the install-superboot-windows.bat file. 5. I then get the error "The program can't start because AdbWinApi.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem." Thats as far as i got. It may even be a problem with my phone, as everyone else seems to have it working. Thanks for your help, husstech
Guest mapero Posted November 10, 2009 Report Posted November 10, 2009 Okay that seems like it isnt fixed! I used linux to root and i didnt get the error! Okay so u have to do this: How strange, I didn't know fastboot for Windows needed that! I'll upload a fixed version, but for now grab adb.exe adb the dll file from this zip! P The files are: -adb.exe -adb -AdbWinApi.dll They are located in the subfolder "Hero"! Dont know where to copy them exactly, but i think they have to be in the folder where the *.bat is located!
