Guest AndyCr15 Posted November 9, 2009 Report Posted November 9, 2009 So, can I force my sound output through a BlueTooth device? I listen to podcasts a lot, but can't hear my phone in the car. I would perhaps have a better chance if I was able to pipe it through the cars hands free setup. On a similar note, is there a free audio booster application? I came across one using Google that costs a couple of £££, but it's not even on the Market, so I'm not sure I trust it...
Guest bigdan Posted November 10, 2009 Report Posted November 10, 2009 You can get Car Stereos now with Bluetooth so you can listen to your Hero's audio and make and receive calls through the car speakers. You can also get Bluetooth car kits (search for Parrot Bluetooth) which allow you to keep your existing car stereo.
Guest soopahfly Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009 When I'm on a call and navigating at the same time, the Hero does send the navigation prompts through the Bluetooth car kit. It's a Nokia CK7W

Would be nice if it done it during normal ipod/cd/tuner mode afaik the handsfree/car stereo/whatever needs the bluetooth audio playback features, so this is not a problem on the hero side of the deal... not sure though, you might want to check this.

The Bluetooth receiver you are using needs to support the A2DP profile to playback stereo music when you are not in a call. There are many head units available that do this, and I believe there is a BT to FM transmitter available too, but I can't remember who makes it.

I use copilot, and if I'm in a confusing set of rounds and roundabouts, if my phone rings im buggered and have to hang up, as it just cuts out and goes to the call. That would be really useful still being able to hear the directions
Guest ptruman Posted November 12, 2009 Report Posted November 12, 2009 The Bluetooth receiver you are using needs to support the A2DP profile to playback stereo music when you are not in a call. There are many head units available that do this, and I believe there is a BT to FM transmitter available too, but I can't remember who makes it. I have a Motorola T605 in my car (Volvo S60). The T605 allows for BT A2DP stereo Bluetooth audio, but my car stereo doesn't have an AUX in, so I have to use an FM transmitter in car which is wired to the T605 AUX output. Basically, my call audio goes via CAN "mute", so it mutes the stereo and I get call audio via the front stereo speakers - but all other audio goes via the AUX/FM route. This means that if I tune my car stereo to my selected FM band, I get all my MP3/CoPilot satnav audio (which work together at the same time) over FM BUT if a call comes in, the stereo is muted and the call is all you'll hear. Mind you, that is by design anyway, any decent handset manufacturer will "pause" any app to allow a call audio to take priority (it is a phone afterall :) ) I will add though, that (in another thread I've discussed) the Hero does suffer from BT "lag" when it's busy, i.e. you may get sub second stereo playback dropouts when changing cells (hand off etc) if the phone is doing anything else (CoPilot SatNav + GPS + MP3 playback + Bluetooth transmit = busy busy phone), but killing all other tasks can help a bit with this - YMMV.
