Googlemail problems after installing Modaco 2.9

First of all, yesterday I installed 2.9 on my Hero and I LOVE it. It's so much faster and jsut generally better in every way.

BUT. Since I did that, the Googlemail app doesn't notify me every time I get a new email, which it did before.

The settings I've got are:

Background data:ON

Auto-sync: ON

Googlemail: ON

I don't use the calendar or my Gmail contacts so I've got them unticked. No matter what I do it either won't tell me when I get a new message or tells me hours after I get one. I don't understand it.

Plus the sync icon on the notification bar is always there now, too.

Any ideas/hints/tips would be most welcome, my email is something I need to have there.

I had to remove the tick for gmail and tick it again under Data synchronization.

Then it worked again.

If that doesn't work try clearing the cache (in manage apps), that did the trick when I had some sync issues.

I tried both of those before I posted here, and neither of them worked. I'm going to reflash anyway, and if googlemail still isn't working I'll download another email app from the market.

Aha! I reflashed and it works. I think the problem was that I needed to keep calendar and contacts checked as well.
