Guest naynada Posted November 14, 2009 Report Posted November 14, 2009 My apologies if this has been discussed before - I have searched here on Modaco and Google for a few hours and cannot find any relevant information. I have previously been using the old 6.5 builds, and today decided to try out 6.5.1. I have flashed a number of 23088, 23506 builds from the various chefs, and all seem to have the same issue - the Call/End keys will function only once per power button press. To be clearer, for example on my old 6.5 rom, I could:Press the Call HW button to bring up the dialer; thenPress the End HW button to close the dialer.Press End HW button to return to the Time as the highlighted panel. With the new 6.5.1 roms, [*]I CAN press the Call HW button; but [*]Any subsequent presses of either the Call/End HW buttons will not respond - [*]UNLESS I press the power button off, then on [*]ONLY THEN will the Call/End HW buttons function for ONE more press. I have also flashed back to my old 6.5 ROM, and can confirm that the Call/End HW buttons work as described above. Is this a normal WM6.5.1 issue? Is there a solution? Or is there perhaps a problem with my Omnia? Thanks fellow Omnians, naynada
Guest naynada Posted November 14, 2009 Report Posted November 14, 2009 (edited) Nobody can confirm, or comment? Well, after more flashing, I find I encounter this issue on all roms except Khuanchai's. (And my old rom was from Khuanchai.) Weird... Edited November 14, 2009 by naynada

Guest naynada Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 ...soo.. flash to something else....twit. lol @ "twit". Aren't you the creative one! :) I had flashed to many others - already said that. Doesn't matter, there doesn't seem to be any major advantages to 6.5.1 over 6.5 anyway.
Guest guy2 Posted November 17, 2009 Report Posted November 17, 2009 I faced the similar problem after flashing WM 6.5. Once I press call button, it cannot make any calls or displays the key pad. May this cos by hardware problem or software's.
Guest Stevenh Posted December 12, 2009 Report Posted December 12, 2009 Hi, did you find a solution to this? I had been using my phone for a while with no problems.. (qBus ROM) and suddenly my hardware buttons stopped working as described in first post... I tried a hard reset and also tried flash to new firmware but it's not working...
Guest naynada Posted December 12, 2009 Report Posted December 12, 2009 Hi, did you find a solution to this? I had been using my phone for a while with no problems.. (qBus ROM) and suddenly my hardware buttons stopped working as described in first post... I tried a hard reset and also tried flash to new firmware but it's not working... Mmmm, not really. I just found that Khuanchai ROMs worked fine for some odd reason. So I went with his. In the end, I cbf'd reconfiguring everything for 6.5.1/6.5.3, so I just stuck with my good old 6.5.0 backup image. If you're looking for 6.5.3 (given that KC has discontinued his i900 ROMs), maybe dheewatara's ROMs might work...given that both he and KC seem to use the same kitchen etc.
Guest Stevenh Posted December 14, 2009 Report Posted December 14, 2009 Yeh changing to Khuan Chai's ROM worked for all except the top right button... then flashing back to any other doesn't work. I suspect that maybe a portion of memory in the boot image is damaged since the low level code to handle the hardware buttons is there. The difference with Khuanchai's ROMs is that he uses the i908 boot image which is mapped a little differently than the i900 version... Anyway, I emailed Samsung so see if they will do a warranty repair...

Mmm, I can't test the top right corner button, as I think I may have damaged it when changing my touchscreen digitizer. But I know it used to work on my Khuanchai ROM - I used it as a flashlight button with Torchbutton! ;) Let me know how you go with Samsung (even though my warranty period is over BLAH) =]

Guest Madz!.. Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 (edited) Tried dhee's ROMs yet? (I don't have any other solution other than Khuanchai's...) Have you tried it?.. i tried steff's ROM, but went back to the same, tried a few others (not sure i tried dhee's though), even samsung official ROM, and no results.. The thing is, i bought this phone really cheap on the internet, brand new, but with this issue described already in hand.. i've searched around the internet, and found your post here, and solved it immediately with Kuanchai's ROM.. Thanx btw.. Now i have a Omnia, and it only payed 100€ for it :D But with Kuanchai's ROM i have a few problems.. i also can't use top right button (i don't see it in buttons menu), i when i try to install resco keyb, i don't have a keyb anymore.. B) , i've hard reset, flashed again, tryed pratically everything.. but no keyb whenever i install resco keyb(???).. :) Thanx for replying, and for your post, it sure already helped me allot! B) Regards! Btw.. You know if any chef is willing to look at this? Edited January 23, 2010 by Madz!..
Guest naynada Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 Glad to have been of help! No, I haven't tried dhee's...my ROM flashing days are over. Re Top right button - I stuffed mine up a while back from tinkering with the internal components, have to press it quite hard now. Not sure why it doesn't even show on your device. Re Keyboard - try Touchpal, or Fingerkeyboard2, or Swype. I doubt the chefs (those who remain) would investigate, as this doesn't seem to have affected many people =[
Guest Stevenh Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 Samsung offers 2 years warranty, just got mine repaired, said they had to replace 2 PCBs in the phone, now waiting for them to send it back to me...
