help pls with my dodgy g1!

Hello people.

Ive just bought a G1 from computer exchange in London but all is not going well. It takes about 5-10 mins to start up and when it does it does nothing apart from making calls.

When its loading it says "T-mobile G1" then goes on to say "HTC HERO by tehseano and moonsspoon".

when its finally done i can do nothing with the phone apart from make calls. i even press the menu button and noting comes up! oh and when i drag the page down it says "t-mobile notifications".

Is there anyway i can get it back to the original t-mobile G1 software?

Oh and how do i know if the phone is rooted, and if it is how do i know what software it is?
