Guest Aton Posted November 15, 2009 Report Posted November 15, 2009 (edited) Hi everyone, now I found some issues with the camera app. I'm using MCR 1.1 on the pulse. The camera app produces horizontal lines in the taken picture. I used several camera apps and they all got these lines. Mostly there are about 1 to 2 lines from the left edge to the middle of picture. I uploaded a picture to demonstrate what I mean. Next thing is geotagging. The G1 had geotagging since early 2009. There seems to be settings in the menu of the camera app of the G1 to activate geotagging. These settings are gone on the pulse. I downloaded SnapPhoto from the market. That app has got the possibility to activate "store location in pictures". I acitvated it but it did not work. Picasa tells me that there are no geotaginformations in the exif-data. Does anyone has more informations or can help to get rid of these problems. Edited November 15, 2009 by Aton
Guest eastldn Posted November 15, 2009 Report Posted November 15, 2009 this is not a reply to your problems unfortunately! but i will say this... all these bugs are really putting me off from buying this phone...
Guest giryan Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 I don't get any lines on mine. If you get them on all your pics, I'd just take it back to store, I've not seem any other reports of it on here, so it's probably a hardware glitch or something :) I've not tried geotagging, but have DLed SnapPhoto so I'll give it a go on the way to work this morning.

Guest Aton Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 @helikopter I know that SnapPhoto has got the option to geotag, but it's not working on my phone. Does your phone work with SnapPhoto and geotagging?
Guest steviem Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 When I first looked at your post/photo, I thought you were referring to the noise from the photo subject, but as I looked closer, I saw those horizontal lines. That isn't normal, the photo quality is to a par with the iPhone 2G (basically Poor!) but I haven't had pixels mess up like this. I'd say that it's a problem with the camera sensor. Have you tried taking a photo with the secondary camera? I'll try out geotagging now...
Guest Aton Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 I brought my phone to t-mobile and am waiting for a replacement right now. The demonstration device in the t-mobile-shop has got the same problem. Let's see if the replacement phone has got the same bug.
Guest Aton Posted November 17, 2009 Report Posted November 17, 2009 Got my replacement pulse today. Up till now the camera seems fine. No more lines in taken pictures. The orientation is still wrong and geotagging still is not part of the settings. And the Barcodescanner and Shop Savvy from the market work too. I spoke with an employee at t-mobile germany. He said, that his G1 has the correct orientation on pictures no matter if taken horizontally or vertically. And geotagging works on the G1 too. That's so nice! It works on older phones but not on a new one. Ridiculous...
Guest Paul Posted November 17, 2009 Report Posted November 17, 2009 How about trying a 3rd party camera app from the market? P
Guest Aton Posted November 18, 2009 Report Posted November 18, 2009 @Paul I already tried orientation and positioning with SnapPhoto on the old pulse and it did not work. It just ignores it. If you know any other app that works, let me know.
Guest twe Posted December 7, 2009 Report Posted December 7, 2009 I took several photos at the weekend, and although half were blurry some of them have lines in it just like yours!!!! It's really annoying.... Has anyone else besides us 2 had this problem? Want to know if it is a common issue or not.... I have my phone unlocked already which is even more annoying.....

I haven't seen any lines, but I haven't taken many photo's due to the poor quality. However, I have seen the lines in some review samples... check the cake pic here: http://www.trustedreviews.com/mobile-phone...d-Smartphone/p4 also in these examples: http://mobile.engadget.com/2009/10/09/t-mobile-pulse-review/
Guest klutsh Posted December 7, 2009 Report Posted December 7, 2009 I had the lines too, I took my pulse back to the store and they swapped it.
Guest twe Posted December 7, 2009 Report Posted December 7, 2009 I had the lines too, I took my pulse back to the store and they swapped it. Does your replacement one have the same problem? Have you taken several photos in a row? As when the above was posted I took the odd photo and it did not show up, only after using the camera several times in a row have I gotten the lines to come through.... Thanks
Guest Paul Posted December 7, 2009 Report Posted December 7, 2009 Is this improved on the U8230 ROM? P
Guest klutsh Posted December 7, 2009 Report Posted December 7, 2009 Not sure on the u8230, my pulse is going back yet again, it appears that the lines are back. 14 Pictures in a row and on the 14th I get lines again and again 7 later. Not happy. I wonder what t-mobile will be prepared to swap the pulse out for? Still even with these lines the phone as a whole is better than my iPhone 3G was.
Guest demusss Posted December 7, 2009 Report Posted December 7, 2009 Hadn't really noticed these before as I dont use the camera but I gave it a go. I've got the u8230 rom installed and getting the lines. Just taken 18 pictures and 9 have lines.
Guest twe Posted December 7, 2009 Report Posted December 7, 2009 Damn, thats not good.... I guess this is a more common issue then..... Maybe more people need to check this issue out with their phone and then I guess make a complaint to T-Mobile to get it fixed?
Guest helikopter Posted December 8, 2009 Report Posted December 8, 2009 (edited) i can confirm that some of my photos also have the lines. about 1 out of 5. i have the u8230 MCR on my phone. i had the same issue with the stock rom as well. Edited December 8, 2009 by helikopter
Guest racingclub Posted December 8, 2009 Report Posted December 8, 2009 does this still happen in a different camera app?
Guest klutsh Posted December 8, 2009 Report Posted December 8, 2009 I starting to think this is a driver problem, if it was hardware then it would appear on every image taken. Maybe the upcoming fix for the camera will fix this too.
Guest helikopter Posted December 8, 2009 Report Posted December 8, 2009 does this still happen in a different camera app? i use camera zoom fx and the issue is there.
Guest Timmmm Posted December 18, 2009 Report Posted December 18, 2009 Hmmm just noticed this issue. Can anyone confirm that a replacement actually fixes the issue?
