Hi All.

Is it possible to get some new apps for the omnia, where the sms and calender functions are more fingerfriendly?

When using the SMS / messaging program, im having troubles hitting the right buttons, i use the samsung phonepad keyboard layout, and the keys are too small. Also i keep hitting 'send' at the bottom and keep hitting the 'keyboard layout' under the spacebar button, would love another layout of the keyboard, but stille the big buttons.

Dont know why Samsung havent put the calender function under the main menu, im missing that, also missing a more fingerfriendly version of the calender, could be nice.

Can anyone help / guide me on the right apps or the right settings for my phone.

Im running 6.1, would it helpme to upgrade to 6.5?

Don't know if you looking only for freeware.

Anyway maybe you could have a look at my list of suggested programs, under SMS and PIM categories: http://www.modaco.com/index.php?s=&sho...t&p=1092929

ThumbCal is really nice for finger-friendly calendar use. I also really enjoyed SMSchat for finger-friendly SMS use, but it's kind of expensive. It integrates well with WM nicely though. As far as the keyboard, I'm not sure. You can try Resco Keyboard though. It comes default with an iPhone theme and error correction so alot of the time you can type normally with the qwerty keyboard.

Check out the thread about the OmniaLite apps. The OmniaLite calendar, keyboard, and message program are all much better then the default WinMo apps.

I use ThumbCal and VitoSMS which have now fully replaced my Calendar and SMS default applications. Skinnable and very finger friendly.

I use:

1. Vito sms chat 1.25

All this stuff is very good for me :)

Omnia Lite calendar works great, and it doesn't cost like ThumbCal, so it's a winner for me.

As for SMS - with WinMo 6.5.1 scrolling and a decent keyboard, the old crappy SMS is quite managable. VitoSMS has a number of problems, and crashes more often than I like.

Check the pics below for my setup.

hey, jason, what's with the htc keyboard and the hero sense ui on your omnia?

i mean the taskbar looks totally different?

how is that achieved?

i don't really agree with your "old crappy sms" idea, but i'd love 2 get a glimpse of that omnia lite calendar! nice!

can't rally get full integration these days..

nobody makes a really great looking and fully functional ui and completes it with its own great looking, fully functional and fully integrated apps.. if i'd've had that company :) i'd've done that, plus a custom install rom!

sorry i'm a little off topic here hihi!

The pictures above are PointUI's Home2 Pointsense Mod by blueocean. It's incredibly awesome, and you can move shortcuts/widgets/device controls, ect just like with Android. There are also a number of different widgets designed for it to add to the screen. Check out www.pointui.com, and then check out the community.

Yep PointUI is definitely the way to go. As for the keyboard, it's TouchPal by CooTek, with a HTC skin. Again, definitely the best keyboard in my opinion. If u need a hand with any of it send me a PM.

I would definitely upgrade to 6.5 as the home page and startmenu are very finger friendly, but unfortunately once you go past the facade its basically 6.1 at heart and needs the stylus or else its total frustration.

As for keyboards from my own experience the Omnia lite seems to be best keyboard and I don't know why or how as it looks to be about the same size and layout as the others but I don't seem to make as many mistakes and the whole SMS experience seems to be with less anger.

Landscape mode might help aswell by expanding the distance between keys.

I love touchscreens but the old phone pads were best for texting!
