HTC Hero Peep Notification Problem

Hi,

First of all, great forum with great information on it :)

Right, The problem I'm having is that I cannot get the peep notification to appear when I know I have twitter updates (checked on my pc!)

It looks like the program only updates when I open up the app (which defeats the point of the notification!)

Within the peep settings I have set it to do a background update every 5 minutes and I have also gone into the Hero's social networking settings and told twitter to update every 5 minutes.

Nothing I do seems to make any difference, I still don't get the little bird head notification that I know should be there! It's like it isn't running the background sync at all.

I have tried clearing the cache as well (and a reset) but it hasn't made any difference.

Please help!

Firmware Version : 1.5

Baseband Version : 63.18.55.06IU_6.35.08.22

Kernel Version: 2.6.27-0078c992

Build Number: 2.73.405.38

Software Version: 1.0.0.A6288

(I rooted my Orange HTC Hero and updated to the 2.73.405.38 rom (rooted) and updated the radio to the version displayed above)

Hey, I have been wondering the same thing... if peep could give notifications while it is not open yet running in the background. I have an HTC Droid and it is only giving notifications when peep is physically open. Have you made any progress or do you just need a different twitter app?

Make sure you've got your Twitter account details in the "Social Network" menu in the Settings.

Do you get other notifications, such as mail-notifications?

If not, you might have disabled background synchronizations using mobile networks.

what i did was - removed peep.apk - replaced it with twitdroid ;) feels somehow lighter,but way more options.

in the newer 2.73.x roms the peep notifications are disabled for anything except replies, you just need to open peep, go into settings, notifications, and enable notifications for new tweets.
