Guest La Traviata Posted November 17, 2009 Report Posted November 17, 2009 I would like to use my i900 as a voice recorder to record conversations, lectures, interviews, general audio and I'm trying to decide which programme would serve me best. After reading several reviews I'm torn between Resco Audio Recorder and Vito Audio Notes Touch. I'm very happy with Resco Photo Viewer and I heard good things about File Explorer, so I'm drawn towards Resco, but I love the finger-friendly look of Vito Touch. http://www.resco.net/pocketpc/audiorecorder/default.asp http://vitotechnology.com/mobile-audio-recorder.html The features I'm looking for are: Ease of use, ideally without stylus Installation in My Storage (not main device memory) Recording to storage card Choice of file formats (mp3 and WAV preferred) and quality settings Easy transfer of files to PC for editing/transcribing Volume control Ability to email/SMS/beam audio files Scheduled playback (not a deal breaker, but would be nice) Any advice from users of the above programmes (or alternative suggestions) would be much appreciated! P.S.: I'm not looking to record phone calls to/from my i900. I gather people are having problems with recording both sides of a telephone conversation, but this would not be an issue for me.
Guest telecomprofi Posted November 18, 2009 Report Posted November 18, 2009 Unfortunatelly most smartphones on WM sucks in audiorecording (cause mic embedded is designed for phone calls) unlike pure PDA. So Omnia sucks in recording alll expect phone calls and short memos pronounced directly to mic :-(. Best devices I had to record audio (not calls, not memos but - lectures, conversations) etc - are PDAs - namely iPAQ 2210 and FS PL n560. Program that worked fine for me for long recordings - is resco audio recorder.
Guest z3ntn3l Posted November 18, 2009 Report Posted November 18, 2009 Did you ever tried Audio Notes from OmniaLite? Its got ported to i900: OmniaLite Apps Thread

I wasn't very happy with that, all I could hear clearly was a loud buzzing noise. The actual conversation was very faint, on every setting I tried. Edited November 19, 2009 by La Traviata
Guest sinancetinkaya Posted November 20, 2009 Report Posted November 20, 2009 @La Traviata I've tried many of them and here are my opinions, Resco Audio Recorder: A good program, useful and it's doing its job what it's supposed to be But it uses cpu time more than others when it's idle Vito Audio Notes Touch (i used that one): It has very good interface, very easy to use But it sometimes skips to record calls at the beginnig for several seconds ACR Auto Call Record: Freeware and very simple program It doesn't support other formats except wav
Guest La Traviata Posted November 21, 2009 Report Posted November 21, 2009 Thank you very much for your input, guys! Based on your reviews and this thread http://www.modaco.com/content/i9x0-omnia-h...rding-question/ I downloaded the Resco trial and managed to produce a usable recording. telecomprofi is right, Omnia's microphone isn't really cut out for the task and from what I've seen so far there is no option to record in stereo, but while I won't be retiring my Olympus voice recorder I now have something I can fall back on in an emergency.

Guest La Traviata Posted November 22, 2009 Report Posted November 22, 2009 mono mic limits you to record in mono :) OK, that makes sense. :D After playing with it some more, I'm also starting to like the "scheduled play" option, which turns the app into an alarm clock that wakes you with a song of your choice. I was also relieved to find that it installed in My Storage without problem and let me choose freely where I want the recordings to be saved. I still wish the file management was more finger friendly, otherwise it would also make a very useful music player as it seems happy to play any mp3 or wav file anywhere on the device.
