Can't root my HTC Hero

hello everyone. recently I bought a HTC Hero form Hong Kong. I've tried to root according with so many tutorials founded on google, but useless. I can't do it. maybe somebody from this forum can guide me to the straight way. on HTC web site doesn't appear any officially version of new firmware. the reason for rooting my phone is, i can't see any paid application on market. thanks in advance

hi. is this the only way to root HTC Hero from HK? is too difficult for me......

Check out the site www.unlockr.com for videos which give the step by step rooting procedure. You might have to downgrade your phone to a version that can be rooted by the one click method described. This can be the reason why you are unable to root.
