Tracing cause of hangs in HTC Sense

I have been using MoDaCo ROMs for a while. With 2.9, however, I have been getting regular hangs in HTC Sense - often a 10-20 second hang when I reach a Sense screen on turning on the phone or hitting the Home button. I have uninstalled various applications to see if I can find the cause, but no luck so far. Occasionally Sense is unresponsive long enough for me to get a system message with the option to Force Close or Wait, although usually if I wait I will get full function back (signaled by the second hand on the clock starting again).

What I want to know is whether there is a way to trace the applications active at a particular point (like Task Manager in Windows) so I can try to work out what is causing the hang.
