A little stupid question about MCR 2.9

I have just downloaded the MCR 2.9 rom with chinese support, and I want to ask a little question.

I've bought a HERO from a friend who lives in England.After a few days of searching , I finally flashed the recovery image and the "HTC Generic 2.73.751.4 (as 2.73.405.5 + Chinese support)" rom.

My question is: if I flash the MCR 2.9 rom, I have to install all those apps I used to have and my contact all over again, right?

Question2: Is there a way to flash MCR 2.9 rom without having to install the apps again??

Sorry for interupting this thread, but i have a question about your question :)

Is the HTC Generic ROM (insert version here) part of the mod process?

At the moment i;

- flash the Recovery image

- partition my device

- install modaco custom rom

- have fun

From what i understand or interpet, you use the HTC Generic ROM to roll back to the orginal factory state, installing the factory kernel, no?

Getting a bit confused about this, just got my hero yesterday ;/
