@sivaspor

These are build numbers as all computer softwares have

As far as I heard, two groups of microsoft are developing wm6.5 at the same time. One group is working mainly on the system and the other group is on the interface. That's why wm6.5 has two different version numbers so far. I think after the final version, these version numbers will be one.

Thanks for explanation,

It seems like Windows 7 way but there is still a few questions I have to ask.

1- 6.5.1 and 6.5.3 which one is newest?

2- I've heard a lot WM 6.5 devices are ready to sell ( Upgrade to Wm 6.5 is also available ), so if is it still in development how can that be?

I know I'm curious but believe me I'm really confused about these versions :)

Regards.

Copy pasted from other threads...:

COM2, COM3 and COM5 are the different beta/release branches going on in Microsoft.

COM2 is the official WM6.5 where improvements are still being made. It should be the most stable branch with classic UI mainly because it is the official WM6.5.

COM3 is the branch where new things would be introduced. In another word, it is more like an experimental branch.

COM4.... seems to be dead. It usually come with the enchanced version of Contact which is now incorporated in COM3.

COM5 is the new one. Mostly will incorporate whatever introduced in COM3 but only the stable components.

The fancier the UI the more RAM it would use because it would need to load the images required to skin the UI. So, if you are concern of available RAM, you should use only classic today components. Other than that titanium is the best in term of RAM usage (with no custom plug-in).

23509 - COM5

21609 - HTC

23088 - COM3

23612 - COM3

28002 - WMD

Now what does that (COM) mean:

212xx = AKU1, all builds leading up to and including WM 6.5

213xx = MOT motorola

214xx = forget

215xx = SAM samsung

216xx = HTC htc

217xx = COM1, continuing dev of 6.5.0.1 - 6.5.0.40

218xx = COM2, continuing dev of 6.5.0.50

219xx = MD, feature branch (unstable features are added here, backported to 218xx (this tree is based on COM1, so older base os code, but the UX code is newer)

22xxx = SEMC sony ericsson

230xx = COM3, continuing development

234xx = COM4

236xx = LG Electronics

280xx = came from WMD branch, maybe it stands for Windows Mobile Developer..(?) The UI is the same with COM3, COM4 and COM5. The difference as far as i'm using it, is that it's faster and better memory usage
