hi guys, firstly i would like to say this is on awesome forum! keep up the great work guys!

right, ive just purchased a UK T-Mobile G2 Touch (hero) and have unlocked it work on O2 UK network using an imei code service. Everything works as it should and i would like to root it so i can install MCR 2.9.

my phone is currently running build number: 1.76.110.6 146733 and has never been upgraded.

i was tempted to upgrade to latest T-Mobile ROM last night but didn't do it and thought id read up first and im glad i did!

so as it is, do i root the phone using the guides over at theunlockr.com and then install MCR 2.9? is it really as straight forward as that?

also will upgrading to MCR 2.9 affect my unlock at all?

Thanks in advance!

"also will upgrading to MCR 2.9 affect my unlock at all?" NO

about the rooting procedure, yes its pretty much straight forward if you use the "root in one click" method, you just flash the latest amon ra's recovery image and you are good to go
