i found over on xda some great tweeks for the hd2 by changing registry values.

alot of the them give me erorrs though and don't let me change the values. does the phone need to be "rooted" or unlocked somehow to be able to do this?

i have an unbranded / unlocked handset.

Some registry editors are better then others at editing locked values. Ive had issues in the past with PHM registry editor for example.

I now use IBE registry editor... never had an issue with it.

Also make sure that any processes you may be affecting by editing its registry values are fully shut down.
