P Ah sorry paul ok no worries :-) Just out of curiosity is there a post anywhere here or do you know of how to remove the t mobile boot up logo / splash screen on a G2 touch so it is totally unbranded? Just incase it doesnt sell and I decide to keep it Cheers Steve
Guest Baggieboy Posted November 24, 2009 Report Posted November 24, 2009 After using the "Gold Card" method and applying the HTC generic RUU, all T-Mobile branding was removed from my G2.

Guest shenshang Posted November 24, 2009 Report Posted November 24, 2009 Oooooo sounds good, excuse me for sounding like an idiot but whats the Gold Card method? go on theunlockr.com and scroll down to the HTC Hero section and go on the post about downgrade. it will show you how to do it step by step with video
Guest Baggieboy Posted November 24, 2009 Report Posted November 24, 2009 That's right. When you first read the procedure it seems a bit daunting, but after watching the video you can see it's really not that hard to do.

So let me get this right..........Ive got a new T-mobile G2touch If i get it unlocked first then, if I use this procedure to downgrade it and load the original HTC RUU then in all intense purpouses I have then got a non rooted HTC hero in my hands with no branding at all on it and I can then load the HTC updated ROM's as and when they are released by HTC with no issues as though I had a totally unlocked sim free HTC hero handset???? Cheers Steve
Guest shenshang Posted November 25, 2009 Report Posted November 25, 2009 umm if your G2 is new, you wont be able to unlock it via like codes generated from websites. you'll need to flash it with a generic or custom firmware for the codes to work as the branded firmwares use their own unlocking algorithms. after you've unlocked it, you will never need to do it again.

Excellent so the prcedure is...... 1 - Downgrade using the gold card method 2 - Install the HTC original RUU 3 - Root it 4 - Update the firmware from the HTC site 5 - Unlock it Is that correct? Cheers Steve
