Guest kdkinc Posted November 24, 2009 Report Posted November 24, 2009 I recently saw a nice recent video on WMExpert showing a new Omnia 2. I'm not quite sure if its the soon to be I920 version he was showing but I think it was. However the person showing the phone showed several of the features especially the User Interface. After using several of the fine rom's updates that have appeared here I think that I would find it hard to step back to a Samsung magical bouncing cube interface. Yes I can then use the wm6.5 UI but its to plain. Ms3.5 (what ever) is to constricting I actual bought it!!(ya I'm the one). I have to admit the the screen and looked awesome and the stereo speakers may be a nice advantage but it the ROM that makes a phone. I like to get the new stuff like anybody but thankfully I have a ways to go till my handcuffs (contract) is up,this will give the MASTERS OF ROM'S time to make a device into to a working, usable phone . Just my observations and opinions. :D
Guest pwmcmaho Posted November 24, 2009 Report Posted November 24, 2009 Well, hopefully once its out a few of the master chef's will whip up some custom roms, to remove the VZW bloat, add in some other features and fix whatever bugs we find... I for one am keenly interested in the phone ... but have also been eyeballing the HD2 ... but everything I am reading suggestes the HD2 might be a while yet... so the O2 may be the next "it" phone for me....

The thing that gets me is i rushed to get original before christmas last year and couple months later they were going for 100 bucks and less. I used someone else's upgrade to get my omnia so i'm good to go if i want to spend 279 and wait 2 months for 79 dollar rebate. While Omnia 2 looks F*cking awesome i think i'll wait for the price to drop and keep enjoying these killer custom roms the awesome chef's here keep putting out. Just my 2 cents.

Yea, Your telling my story. That's about the time I bought my Omnia. When I first found ms3 I then realized that the omnia had a lot more to offer at that time.

Guest kdkinc Posted November 25, 2009 Report Posted November 25, 2009 I would like to add to my original rant . Can ya remember the feelings you had when you found out that the only way you could get GPS was through a $9.95 Navigator program. :D I don't want the same frustrations of having a what seems like a BORING ROM. :( Plus as stated above the cost will go down in three months, watch the Droid or Imagio after the O2 is released. Then again, maybe I'm only making up reasons not to buy what looks like at this time a really nice upgraded phone with only one major fault.... ;)

Now about the important stuff the hardware. THE GOOD: OLED is the best screen i have seen even to the 3GS (which has better finger print res) & the washout in direct light is almost gone, there is still a little white but the OLED makes it easy to view Noon light standing on a dirt lot and see who is calling. "What a country" the phone its self it very nice the frame size, screen size & speed make it the best phone i have used yet ; SIDE NOTE: put android 2.0 on this phone and i say u have a true iphone killer. THE NOT SO GOOD: Its a major finger print magnet i mean u need to carry a cloth to wipe after use. The Samsung UI is weird and uses 6.5 not 6.5.1 so back to the start menu at the top left and no telling on how long it will take to get more chiefs to buy this phone. the over all feel is solid & better than the i910 but i would highly sugggest a case for this phone i think it would take a 2' drop onto a hard surface So where do i stand with Verizon & the i920, If the HTC Passion (AKA Dragon) is released this week (black Friday) or when ever that will be my choice. but if the leo is not in the cards i will be buying the Verizon i920 Also my rep says the i920 will release Dec 1 2009
Guest DirtySanchez Posted November 25, 2009 Report Posted November 25, 2009 O and this keyboard is the best i have used yet http://www.swypeinc.com/ its stock with the i920 :D
Guest kdkinc Posted November 25, 2009 Report Posted November 25, 2009 O and this keyboard is the best i have used yet http://www.swypeinc.com/ its stock with the i920 ;) Hey Thanks for the great input :( I think that when the I920 gets released the i910 forum may loose some great chef's. First it was "call of Duty" then the 12/2/2009 release date :D
Guest spinwizard Posted December 4, 2009 Report Posted December 4, 2009 (edited) Hey Thanks for the great input ;) I think that when the I920 gets released the i910 forum may loose some great chef's. First it was "call of Duty" then the 12/2/2009 release date :D My i910 sits on my desk getting lonely. My i920 will take a little getting use to. Great screen, nice UI, but as before VZW has packed it with crud I have no use for. It's fast and the UI is kinda droid like, but not. The cube is useless unless you could put you own favorate cabs to it. Calling all the great chef's of the community... I can only stand the stock ROM for so long, I'll need a fix soon. This flashaholic is going thru withdraws. :D I might just have to flash my i910 to satisfy the urge :( Edited December 4, 2009 by spinwizard
