Guest CursorDroid Posted November 26, 2009 Report Posted November 26, 2009 Hello all, I've recently taken the leap towards a couple of HTC Magic 32A HTC RUU updates, and through my travels found the 1.76.2007 Eng SPL for the Hero. One of the updates for the 32A Magic installs radio image 6.35.07.29 and SPL 1.76.0007. I've managed to flash the 6.35.07.29 radio (same as Hero) and SPL 1.76.2007 Eng (also same as Hero, but allows test keys). Now because of these 2 changes, I can boot MoDaCo 2.9 on my HTC Magic 32A. I had to make one small change to get it to boot, but it runs well now. Just one thing wrong, and I'm hoping that someone here can help me out. The wlan.ko module included in MoDaCo 2.9 is only for Hero. And even though the Hero is nearly identical to the Magic 32A, the wlan module in MoDaCo 2.9 won't work for the wlan adapter in the Magic. I've tried to use wlan.ko from another 32A Sense ROM, but of course it didn't work because the kernel version didn't match. Would someone be able to help me compile a working wlan.ko for the HTC Magic 32A? Device specific info: SAPPHIRE PVT 32A ENG S-OFF H HBOOT-1.76.2007 (SAPP50000) CPLD-12 RADIO-6.35.07.29 Aug 21 2009,18:19:15 I guess I'll probably need kernel source to build the module. But if anyone has a better idea, or can compile the module for me, just let me know. Thanks! Ryan

Ryan i am able to successfully compile a kernel for the hero, including wlan and all. though i am not a kernel guru (never compiled anything else than the hero kernel :D ) i might be able to help you, once you got the sources. the compiling itself is don by a script and goes rather quickly, also the creation of an update.zip is not a problem. so if you find something let me know.

Actually, now that I think about it... I'm not trying to compile a kernel module for the Hero, I need one for the HTC Magic. This is one of those 'DUH' moments, I know... What I mean to say is that I need to compile a kernel that matches the exact version of the kernel that teknologist uses for the MoDaCo ROM. For that, I really don't think I need his kernel sources, I should just be able to compile a 32A kernel and wlan.ko module with a matching version... I'm kinda scatterbrain on this one right now, but I think I'm on the right track. I'm going to install VirtualBox and Ubuntu today and get started.

Yeah, I do sound confused don't I? What I'm after really is the kernel source used for the 2.6.27-mck-teknologist-1.8 kernel. Then I can spin up a module for 32A that will allow me to run Hero ROM's almost natively.
