Download Attachements in 2.0

Its probably the thing that frustrates me the most about my Hero. Whats the point in having a seamless OTA sync with my gmail account if I cant download and save the attachement (and I mean ANY kind of file). WinMo have been doing this for years and even the built in HTC app has limited ability to do this. Yes I know i can browse to the mobile version of gmail and download it from there but its hardly the same is it.

I've done a bit of googling on the new features for 2.0 but cant see this mention....its a shame cos I cant be alone on this one.

What do you mean? You should be able to download attachments?

For 'unknown file types', install 'Download Crutch Lite' from the Market.

Well in my Gmail app, if there is an email with an attachement .doc, .xls .ppt I only ever get the option to 'Preview' the document never a download or save option. I think the exception is for image files but thats still pretty limited.
