Cant really say I like the cooked roms I've tried so I'd like to flash back to a standard or close to it rom so I can just install the Ui and apps that I like . I've waded through a gazillion threads and posts without making a lot of sense out of it so if anyone can point me to a link it would be much appreciated.

I did read the thread about rom flashback ... http://www.modaco.com/content/i900-general...hback-tutorial/ ... but didnt know what roms to really look for in the places it suggested , couldnt even tell what was 6.1 or 6.5 .

I know Im probably pushing it uphill but I had to ask !

I have been looking on the big web for exactly the same thing. A plain winmo 6.5.1 or 6.5.3. rom with just the basics and no extra's. So i can install for example SPB mobile shell on it and work with that.

Can a veteran rom flasher maybe point us in the right direction?

Thanks!

Hein

I'm in the same boat - not the biggest fan of cooked ROMs.

I also am not the biggest fan of 6.5.1 and have stuck with 6.5, but you can find both variety here. It seems DDDRKO has quit making ROMs, but his 21851 is effectively a final naked 6.5 ROM. It doesn't have anything, even all the Samsung software is removed.

Check it out, I finally settled on his after going through pretty much all the ROMs here - multiple times for most! 21851 is what I'm using now and after doing my customizations it's really the best user experience I could hope for - doubt for my needs I'd get a better experience out of any iPhone, webOS or Android device - just makes me wish the Omnia's hardware wasn't starting to get massively outdated. :D

Thanks Koofteh! Going to download 21851 right now, it even says on his site it is just a plain windows 6.5 rom.

After flashing i will add Mobile Shell and see if that runs smoother on 6.5 than it ever did on 6.1

Cheers

Hein

Indeed he does say that... I think because he is no longer active his thread has fallen behind and you guys therefore couldn't find it easily.

I had MS3 on 21851 for a few weeks... worked quite well, though I can't say if it ran better than on 6.1 since I never used MS3 with 6.1.

thanks Koofteh , I'm currently using winmo 6.5 classic lite from Nicklashide that I downloaded last night , seems pretty cool , Im getting used to 6.5 now at least and I put Launchpad on it to make access to everything easy the way I like it . Still has a little too much stuff on it for my liking but thats ok for now. Would be better if cooked roms still let you uninstall the stuff you dont want to have on your phone.

MS3 on winmo 6.1 had the irritating effect of misfiring .exe parts of MS3 resulting in the calender not working or mail to stop recieving. Very annoying and i think partly to blame on the os.

Let's hope 6.5 does a better job of running MS3. Downloaded the ROM now and hopefully flashing this evening. Thanks again!
