Guest meabigbaldguy Posted November 27, 2009 Report Posted November 27, 2009 I have some information some of you may find useful if you are pondering the purchase of a dual sim adapter for your Omnias. Today, I've just received my new SIMORE SIM 2 Platinum dual SIM adapter, installed it and it's golden! This particular model is developed specifically for 3G, HDSPA, and WCDMA SIMs. You will have to cut your SIM cards to make it fit, but the cutting template works very well so it's not easy to make a mistake unless you have had too much coffee, alcohol, or drugs just before cutting. Once installed, the SIM automatically installs a menu into the main menu that allows you to switch lines. One thing that I found misleading is that the cutting template does require that you cut into the gold chip of the SIM card. At first, I thought this was a mistake, but it's actually not. So long as you follow the template, you'll be fine. Included with the package is a SIM recovery package that will allow you to reconstruct the SIM cards should you want to remove them from the adapter. I've tried these and they also work as they are said to. One little nuisance since the installation so far is that my data connection tends auto connect a couple of times when I power the phone on. After that it stops and everything is otherwise normal. So if any of you need a dual SIM capability as I did. Then this is something that you may want to consider. I did my research and this seemed the be the best choice of all the stuff that's out there. You can also find this at www.simore.ch.

Guest meabigbaldguy Posted November 30, 2009 Report Posted November 30, 2009 I should have added some photos in the first post. I've added three here. The first, shows the back side of the assembled DUAL SIM, with both of my cut SIM cards. They are both T-Mobile (USA and D). The second, shows the contact side of the DUAL SIM card. The third, shows both of my SIMs, just before I cut them, but with the templates over them. So far so good! The autoconnect to GPRS bug I was having even seemed to correct itself, so perhaps it wasn't even related to the new DUAL SIM. Accessing the SIMORE menu is simple, and so is switching between lines. Bootup of the phone does seem to take a second or three longer; however, I find that to be insignificant unless my phone is off whilst I'm being chased by a murderer or something. It's coming from a Swiss company, which makes me feel better as far as the quality and truth in advertising is concerned. It's worth the 75 Euros that I paid (tax included).
Guest meabigbaldguy Posted December 4, 2009 Report Posted December 4, 2009 I've been using this now for over a week and though it does what it's supposed to, there are also some items that are troublesome. - Switching between phone lines doesn't always happen the first time. It may instead generate a SIM read error that, will require a second attempt at switching to the second line. It doesn't always happen, but when it does, it usually goes after the second attempt. - It appears to eat up the battery life. When I switch between lines, I see my battery indicator drop 10% the moment it finishes the process - this ain't no joke!
