Guest dwallersv Posted November 29, 2009 Report Posted November 29, 2009 I had the damn thing in my hands. I was able to confirm everything posted about it -- stereo speakers, built-in stylus, WM6.5, Swype, etc. Opened a fresh box, checked it out virgin. I like the dark red/black, hologram-like pattern coloring on the back too. It really looks nice. DAMN IT ALL, THEY COULDN'T SELL IT TO ME TODAY!!! GRRRRRRRRR!!!! The business systems are not live yet to make the sale. No matter how much I begged, pleaded, etc. -- and the rep I was working with really wanted to make it happen -- the manager would not agree to any "tricks" the rep and I conjured up to do the sale. So, I left empty-handed. Back to the original plan... Standing at the door banging hard precisely at 10AM on wednesday when they open, and launch the O2 nationwide. Man I am really jonesing for that damn thing. It's 100x worse now that I've played with it. That display is beyond words!
Guest tedkord Posted November 29, 2009 Report Posted November 29, 2009 Be sure to review it thoroughly for those of us who can't get one quite yet (but are still salivating).
Guest semmtexx Posted November 29, 2009 Report Posted November 29, 2009 I examine both the moto droid and the eris yesterday. holy crap the touchscreen poop all over the omnia II. i'm upgrading in january to android and never looking back.

I know it has a standard headset connector, does it still have the samsung "blade" for charging? I am wondering if any of my accessories from the Omnia I will work with it. Thanks!

Has a mini-USB port -- charges there.
Guest acoustics86 Posted November 30, 2009 Report Posted November 30, 2009 Has a mini-USB port -- charges there. So a mini-USB headset will also be used to listen to music? I really don't get why they don't just go regular 3.5mm headphones, so we can use good quality headsets vs all these crap gadget ones and annoying adapters I have gone through.
Guest tacchan23 Posted November 30, 2009 Report Posted November 30, 2009 USB port is Micro USB. And the 3.5mm is there too.
Guest necosino Posted November 30, 2009 Report Posted November 30, 2009 Confirmed Sunday they do have them in stores, I was allowed to play with one as well (they go on sale next week!) I'm really torn between the Omnia II and the HTC Passion though.. They said they hadn't heard about that yet though, so most likely the passion will be in Q1 2010.
Guest dwallersv Posted November 30, 2009 Report Posted November 30, 2009 USB port is Micro USB. And the 3.5mm is there too. Correct. Apologies for my imprecision. The TV cable plugs in to the 3.5mm jack too. As for the USB port, it's a fully functional USB port, so in theory one could run USB headphones over it, but that would require a driver that I'm all but certain isn't there. Also, the USB port was moved from the top (i8000) to the side (i920). The one thing I didn't check was the external microSD card slot, but I'd be surprised if this was the one error in the literature package.

Guest acoustics86 Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 ahh my bad i guess i shoulda looked at the specs just thought the usb used to charge was also where you put in the headphones, kinda like the omnia with their port and my old tilt which used the mini-usb for both. good news tho with the 3.5mm.
Guest Turborepu Posted December 4, 2009 Report Posted December 4, 2009 i wonder if the gps is as slow as it was on the O1
