Multiple Hero Problems!

I've had my hero for a good few months now and never had a issue with it. Now, everything seems to be failing all at once!

1) None of the buttons light up anymore and the trackball doesn't glow anymore when there is a new text etc..

2) The LED lights no longer work - when I'm charging for example, no amber or green lights!

3) Headphones, when inserted, are no longer recognised and sound still plays through the speaker. No matter what combination of headphones in / out and reboots, still doesn't fix the issue. I've had to download an app that forces the headphones on which works perfectly but I shouldn't have to do this!

4) HSDPA connection drops after a period of time, but a clear out of the cache / history etc and a reboot sorts that

5) Phone vibrates a long time before the sound goes off or doesn't sound at all on notifications

The phone is on Orange (errgghh!) so can't flash with the new ROM from HTC (I'm not having anymore Orange phones, I'm sure they just wreck the damn things with their software! :D ).

Has anyone else had any of these issues and if so, any solutions? Any greatly appreciated before I go back to my Diamond...

Cheers, Pj

If you got the phone on contract from Orange then its covered under warranty. Give them a call and they should either repair it or replace it.

Thanks for that! Went to the Orange shop to see what they would do and apparently they don't do replacements anymore, so you have to call 150 and go through their numerous options (which are always everything but the thing you want).

Eventually I got through to them, they diagnosed over the phone and confirmed the faults and organised a replacement for me for tomorrow evening between 6 and 10pm. The call took less than 10 minutes.

I've been an Orange customer for what must be 14 years now and this just re-enforces my confidence with their service! Their software changes to the phones are rubbish, but I've always found their service to be very good!

Got the replacement handset last night - gotta be a refurb, but it looks tip top, plus it works which is also a bonus!

The thing that surprised me is that it was loaded with the most recent HTC Orange ROM 2.73.61.5. Wasn't expecting that as I had downloaded it from HTC ready to update. The difference in phone performance is very noticeable.

Yeah i was already to help a mate flash his new hero to the latest Orange ROM but he was in the sam boat as you, it was already loaded. I have been on that ROM for a quite a while and think it does the job nicely. I'm well aware that the MCR ROMs are supposed to be 'better' but I've not had a single issue with the 2.73 ROM for Orange. The only thing that I believe the MCR would help me with is getting the Wireless Tethering for rooted phones to work.
